haha same ! i was soo happy ! everything we predicted came up XD
Glad its over, have you done Unit 4? ive got it next week, doesn't seem bad at all.
Yep, everything that TSR predicted for my topics came up so I was a very happy bunny . Nope I'm doing it next week too - bricking it! My teacher hasn't taught us any of the new spec changes to anomalistic psychology (which is a fair amount of new material, the old stuff that we've been taught has been replaced) because he didn't even know the spec had changed! He actually denied the spec changes when my class asked him and got defensive that we basically told him he's a crap teacher.

I can't get my head around some of the research methods stuff either. What topics are you doing for it?

i was aiming for a B so that sounds great LOL lets just hope the examiners thought my essay was as good as i did
Oh yeah that should be a B! It's crazy how someone can technically miss out an entire third of the paper and still get an A!

I smiled when I opened the paper because all I could think was "TSR, I love you" . I liked it, but like the others who did gender, I thought a whole 24 marker on schema theory was a bit tricky. How did you find it?
    Eugh, thank you!

    All that on Schema?! WUT?!

Luckily I learnt one study from the A2 Book with the dog on the front :') (we just all call them dog books, don't know if it's unique to our school to do that though xD) and i could talk about it, in the end i had to refer back to the constancy theory... whether or not i got any marks or not is a different matter!

[QUOTE=emotionalwreck_;38052196]That's reassuring as I felt it was a bit narrow since I thought they would've asked about gender constancy as well, and yeah I wrote a page and a half too I only wrote about one study to support it and just kept writing about reductionism and determinism how they don't take into account biological and social and elaborated on them mentioning testosterone levels and conditioning from parents :/
And I only wrote about 2 pages for the other sections as well and for relationships I kinda contradicted myself because I put there was age bias for the Clarke and Hatfield study and how they're unlikely to want children but then went on to say that the women would've said no because they have high levels of choosiness, so I should've planned :/
And well I only need to get a B but would like an A as my English as let me down now :/ so I would have to get 76 on each paper and wow 12 ums is really good! You must've done really well on the other papers

Ahaha not really, i did super well in my Btec Drama course, just because i spent way too much time in the drama rooms when i should have been out eating or doing other things xD but that's just because i adore drama (: i've been predicted full marks on that one (:

and i don't know if UMS is the same as marks, but i need 12 marks in the paper, and there was about 80 marks so, i don't know how many ums that is :') but i just need that to pass the course on a low grade xD otherwise i fail it :P but hopefully not... i've never been good at psychology, i can learn the information like a script so i know it off by heart but i always lose marks for my writing technique, but i compared with friends on higher grades this year and i found out that i may be on the right track now (: so here's hoping i can scrape up 12 marks and that way i won't have to go in for clearing for uni!

I'm sure you'll have gotten the grades, i'm not sure but i hear the grade boundries are slightly lower this year (: so there's that!

I know but such a huge guilt trip in any case, I knew a lot on SLT as well just upset I didn't get to use it.
I only did around 8 and a half pages so that's really upsetting. I know you didn't need tons it's just that I could have put tons more :/
Don't worry, i put about 7 and a half, there really wasn't enough time for it though, half an hour for each section isn't enough even for fast writers.

Besides, more isn't always better, my teacher said try to keep each essay to six paragraphs because then you get lots of information but it's not too long winded (: you can sometimes get marked down if you just blab on about irrlevent stuff, which i've done before

Wow that's great for Drama! Well done!
And haha I think you will have definitely got 12 marks, I usually think of it as percentage wise but I'm not sure. And yeah the grade boundaries were really low for January so hopefully they'll be low for June too

Yeah I planned on doing both and splitting up the marks equally (i.e. 2 AO1 and 8 AO2/3 for both success and failure) but ended up writing all 4 AO1 for success so anyway in the end I didn't write any AO1 for failure, just AO2/3! The examiner is going to be so confused by the distribution of it haha.
Haha well what you wrote was probably good and plus they'll expect people to write about both success and failures.

Can anyone help me work out how many marks in this exam I need to get an A overall, if I have 236 from PSYA1/2/4?

Don't worry, the spec changes were from this January onwards so you don't need to learn anything different .

Nope, we call it the dog book at my sixth form too haha! I remembered a study and two evaluative studies of that, then tried to bung in IDAs. I used Kohlberg as well so don't worry, everyone else seems to have done that too. I wish they'd asked for one or more cognitive developmental explanations, it would've been so much easier.

    You need 320 altogether for an A so 320 - 236 = 84
So you'd have to get 84

For an A overall in Psychology you need 80% of 400 UMS = 320 UMS.
    320 - 236 = 84 UMS.

That's what you need for an A

So if one of the topics was harder than others does that mean the grade boundaries would still be high for those people?

This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App
Unfortunately, yes. But usually there is still quite a big variation between those who found one question easy/hard. But if a question is genuinely found difficult by everyone who took that question then the grade boundaries will be lowered overall for everyone.
