    Oh dear
    Nah, she's wrong.

Trust me, 100% they're marked by paper. They tried online marking for the first series of PSYA3 but it didnt work, as its hard to annotate, and sometimes read.

    You'll defo be fine.

This might be a stupid question, but how does AQA sort out who marks which sections? Presumably not every examiner is that knowledgeable on all the topics, so do the examiners tell AQA which topic questions they can mark? How does it work?
i got my paper back from january and it literally looked like someone had got a gel pen and ticked randomly then stuck the mark number on the front

    I'll be doing:
    Biological rhythms and sleep
    Relationships
    Eating behaviour

I am self teaching myself A2. Attended college for AS but A2 is Thursday's and I am playing music on Thursday night at a restaurant. Anyway I was choosing my topics today and going for sleep relationships and eating disorders. How did you find them?

    Hello

I recently returned to this thread. I did the following:

    Biological Rhythms
    Relationships
    Aggression

I'll quickly tell you how I found each one. Sadly, I didn't do eating behavior so I cannot help you there!

Biological Rhythms out of the three this is the one I struggled with, not because the theories were complex but because the first three parts were mainly biology which I am awful at. After that it becomes more interesting with insomnia, sleep walking, restoration theory and so on. This part is generally more interesting. But, if you are good at biology then you would be great at the first part, the second half is mainly remembering but at least from my perspective is a lot more interesting.

Relationships this has to be my favorite topic I have ever studied, I loved almost all the spreads, it's intresting and relatable. A lot of the Ao2 points which make up most of the marks are really straight forward, as are the IDA. It's simply remembering several theories over 8 spreads and the Ao2 for them. A lot of the time the IDA is common sense like the Reward need satisfaction theory suggests that we need to max our rewards and minimise our costs for a relationship to work. Straight away culture bias, and not all people focus on maximising rewards selfish nature and so on. Although, two sections "Gender differences in Parent offspring" and "childhood experiences" in my book at least there was not a lot of Ao2 points so I did have to use multiple books and online resources in order to find additional points so I would have a sufficient amount to get the higher marks.

Aggression for me aggression was so so, it had its bad bits and it had its positives. The easiest question, sadly for you came up this year *yay*. But, for the most part the first section is based on the social explanations for aggression, some of which you may of covered in AS (Or will cover) such as the social learning theory / deindividuation. The next spread are a mixture of biology, and group display. The biology section is relatively straight forward, hormones, genetics, twin studies, a lot of this you'll see in PSYA4 as well when studying Schizophrenia and I think Depression too. The group display is a bit wishy washy from what I remember, I had to use several different books to find sufficient information.

    Overall

I would say that PSYA 3 is mostly a memory test, sadly to say for Relationships, and Aggression the best possible questions came up this year. So question predicting will be very hard. All I would suggest for you to do is constantly test your memory and how well you can remember the spreads of information on each topic. You have to know almost all the spreads of by heart! (Around 20 double sided) So start early, and test yourself consistently.

    Good luck!

Thanks. Well I got sorted onto a night class on Monday's just bit more to travel... Yea I did A level biology not my favourite so it wasn't. Not sure what topics we'll do for psya3 until I start on the 10th. So do you reckon it is best I do psya3 in January not leave it until June with psya4? With A level business studies I did the 2 units in June. Dont think I would have did better if I had of did unit 3 in January.

Well if possible I would do PSYA4 in Jan, and leave PSYA3 until June. As I personally think PSYA 4 is more difficult. But, if that's not possible I would still try to take PSYA 3 in Jan, as even if you don't pass you can still re-take it in June. If you put enough work and effort into the work, and learn, memories and get the exam layout perfect. You will do fantastically, it just comes down to how much work you do, and how good your memory is

Perfect your writing style so you learn to write in a way the examiners like, write model answers and revise as much as you can as there is a lot to learn. Good luck!

    +1
I would agree with this, it seems perfecting your writing style and making it easier for the examiners to know where the theory marks go and evaluation marks go clearly make it much easier to pick up marks.

If you choose to do aggression, I have written a booklet on every possible model essay answer that can come up which is available on itunes for the ipad.

    Link is here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/aqa-...547172151?ls=1

It has model essay essays you can simply copy that can get you full marks.

I achieved 100 ums on this paper doing Sleep/Bio Rhythms, Relationships and Aggression.

I have just got my Psya4 results and achieved 100ums in that also so quite pleased with that too as my total ums points was 373/400 (A*).

If I am able to help for psya3 or psya4 please feel free to ask and il try my best,

    -Meph
