Ok, so I'm thinking about doing these subjects for A-Level and wanted to know how hard they are and if they give me the ability to either study law or medicine at university!!

Not too sure about this but when I was doing my GCSE's I asked my teacher whether it was better to do Human Biology or normal Biology for Medicine (I had wanted to study medicine for a long, long time). She said that universities tend to prefer normal Biology, but I'm not really sure on the authenticity of that. It's probably worth asking someone that knows. You definitely need chemistry for medicine. I would strongly recommend taking maths because this not only helps tremendously with Physics but also will help with UKCAT and BMAT and generally in life. Also, I would have thought you needed English or a related subject for Law? Have you checked university websites where they tell you entry and subject requirements?

Thanks for the swift reply. As for English I was thinking of doing that instead of G&P but I was warned against it because they said I would be doing too many hard subjects (they said I should show that i'm well rounded and not just do the traditional subjects). Maths isn't my strong point and know that it wouldn't be worth me doing it as I would get a crap grade; however I feel it is good enough in the areas needed for physics e.g. re-arranging equations.

If maths isn't your strong point then it might be worth reconsidering Physics, also you really need a language or essay subject for law so English would be a good idea.

Sorry, I know this thread is old so I hope people won't mind posting on here. I've had my unit 3 (separate science) physics results and I'm happy to say I got an A*. So with this in mind would you still say that I should steer clear of Physics as I feel the maths you need for physics is the stuff I can do. (If it helps my Predicted maths grade is a B (I know not that good)). I also know that the maths in physics at A-Level get harder (I'm willing to spend time learning it).

The answer is still yes, the sciences at A level are very different to at GCSE, and you will struggle if you can't do the maths.
