    Film & Television
    Hi

I have an unconditional offer on this course for 2012 and was wondering if any current or past students could give any info about the facilities and how practical the course is etc.

Haven't had a chance to attend an open day as I am travelling!

    Thanks

Hey, I'm not doing it, but my fiance is a current student in the department, so I know a little bit. This course is more theoretical than practical, although there are a few options to do practical projects, the better option for a practical course is media production.

The facilities are really good, i've seen them myself. 2 big TV studios, with HD cameras etc. Very, very good!

    Hey

I'm a first year Film & TV student at the UOL, the course as lozzy said before is more theoretical than practical but you still do a practical side, the 4 modules you study in your first year are; 'Landmarks in Film & TV' which is all about the history of the industry, 'Mediation & Representation' which is all about the representational side of film and TV, with things like Feminism being studied, then you have 'Audiovisual Principles and Practices' which is about analysing texts etc etc. and then the final two are split into two, so you do the first one, one term then the other in the second term; 'Production Planning' which is in the TV studio's; it will be the smaller of the two, but the facilities are amazing, state of the art equipment. then you have 'Script, Screenwriting and Realisation' which is single camera production so you will make a short film based on a specific brief.

Hope this helps, any questions drop me a PM.
