Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012Yeah I haven't started my revision for it yet, starts tomorrow and doesn't stop til the day lol. I'm doing addiction and depression. And I'd like an A* too but I'm not gonna stress over it too much(Original post by Jess9)
Addiction and Schitzophrenia. What about you? Haven't started yet and would really like an A* because I'm doing at Uni.
Yeah, me and a friend decided to do it, and we both failed miserably.
I'm only going about 8 miles away from home but I'm moving out to get the "full university experience." :') I got an offer from York, but it was AAA because I don't have an "official" bio/chem/phy/maths a-level, and my other a-level English, was far too risky to get an A. And if I'd have done that I wouldn't have got the access scheme, so yeah went with Leeds instead.
And Lancaster is a while away from me, I live not far from Birmingham and didn't want to go to Birmingham because it feels too close lol!
Good luck with your Psychology! -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012(Original post by VanessaXD)
Don't worry you did the best you could + this exam had some pretty awkward questions so hopefully grade boundaries r low ! (: If you have the 4A/4B exam next week guess u could make up for it (:
If the exam boundaries are low i might be able to manage to scrape a C overall, which might not be a disaster -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012I am praying i have done enough - same i wrote about that(Original post by andytp)
What was the essay for ecosystems actually asking? I read it about 10 times and still didn't understand what I was suppose to write so I just talked loads about ecosystems and succession and hopefully get marks lol xD
PLEASE GOD - so scared for the 16th -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012I'm gunna do abit on method and results sections tonight and hope the 10 marker is one of them! What do you think's gunna come up for aggression?(Original post by andytp)

It's pretty much structured isn't it as:
- an approach to one addiction - AO1 + AO2
- media/risk factors
- treatments or whatever they're called
Mine feels too close, but I hope the fact that I'm moving out won't make it too bad. Good luck with yours too. Will probably see you on the psych4 board tomorrow or after? If you're stuck with anything addiction related and no-ones replying on the forum, I'll try help! -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012Best to forget about it now until results day(Original post by TheShore)

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012im sure the Japaneese islands are all made from the subduction of phillipines plate under Eurasian plate. and the phillipines is one of those islads?(Original post by Heyimdec)
But how are we supposed to know that the area of Phillippines given in the photograph is on a destructive plate boundary? The picture of the volcano was misleading as people thought it was a shield volcano which are not formed at a destructive boundary. Confusing

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012
To anyone who did the tectonics essay, what did you include?
i mentioned that they used to believe the continental drift theory, went on to explain how they discovered plate tectonics and then talked about the different plate margains and that volcanoes/earthquakes occur on these and from knowing that the earth is made up of plates, they know that the distribution is going to be along these boundaries. Had to really rush and cut it down a little as i ran out of time. -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012
Effed it up so bad
Weather section was alright, albeit my outline of the origin of depressions may have been a little short
Development and Globalisation section was a disaster. Mind totally blanked on "economic sustainability versus environmental sustainability", be surprised if i scraped even one mark on that bit
Did the plate tectonics essay but was short on time so it was really rushed, don't feel that I showed my capability at all
At in all, worst exam I've ever sat, kissing goodbye to Durham University now
SO ANGRY at myself! Just totally lost my cool in there and paniced and rushed it -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012Fair point. But would they expect us to make that sort of association for that type of question?(Original post by Keiran:.)

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012yes I thought I was the only one lol, how did you find the essay?(Original post by chlooeh)
Did anyone do the Weather essay? Lol, think I'm the only one :/
Run out of time so had to rush Plate Tectonics structured questions

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012I used 3(Original post by andytp)
How many case studies did you use? I found it really hard to put case studies in this essay :/
you?
-
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012As long as you did the case studies in fairly okay detail you'll be fine I'm sure(Original post by hannahm2310)
I wrote about heather moorland , plaguoclimax and the natural sucession on industrail wasteland and argued wheter it was both natural and human activity due to previous
Industrail use
I thought it was ok - praying for 20 marks
Please god !!!!!!

I used paleomagnetism, continental drift. Then went on to talk about montserrat volcano, japanese tsunami (synoptic link mentioning fukushima), sichaun earthquake (mentioning pop density for another synoptic link)
Then to disagree I used uk earthquakes, hot spots and how nuclear weapon testing can sometimes create earthquakes. I thought it was going to be the theory so revised loads for it. -
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012No i dont think they would but in order to full talk about the hazards e.g tephra or pyroclastic flow you have to come up with the sumption its at a destructive plate marging. If you said its similar to an icelandic and gave those exaples i dont think you would have scored many marks.(Original post by Heyimdec)
Fair point. But would they expect us to make that sort of association for that type of question?

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012I didn't say it was typical of any plate boundary or type of eruption.(Original post by Keiran:.)

I basically just listed the possible primary and secondary effects with relevance to the topography of the area and the hazards that they pose to the local settlements.

Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012I'm really confused about synopticity:/ If I mentioned the Japan Earthquake which caused the tsunami, is that a synoptic point? How many of these do we need to get say 20? 30? 35?(Original post by wbafc4lyf)
Hi,
I used paleomagnetism, continental drift.
Re: A2 AQA Geography 3A Summer 2012Is it me or was the question "Evaluate whether plate tectonic theory helps us understand the distribution of earthquakes and volcanos"(Original post by wbafc4lyf)

I dont understand how talking about continental drift or paleomagnetism helps explain the distribution of such events, those are just proofs of plate tectonic theory being valid
