that was the grade boundaries in January, i thought the Jan paper was a decent paper, challenging in some areas, i'm guessing ours could be similar to them?

Yeah, i'm doing 4a. The writing bit is okay for me, because most oof that is on what I did last year n my fieldwork, so its just remembering that really. And my tecaher has written model answers for them . Its just section B of the paper, where its statistics and maths

same here, im using the fieldwork i did at AS. our teacher has hardly gone through the skills section, im pretty worried. looking at the past papers, it doesnt seem as if they ask many maths related questions on the skills section.

nah. I did one on Friday with some of my friends, and we were quite suprised! The Chi-squared was already done for us, and w just had to explain what the result meant, which we thought was okay. Dont worry, it'll be fine! I was mmore worried about the big one earlier this week lol :L

Mann whitney is simple really. It's not come up so I advise you look this up and learn how to do it.
There are some basic steps to mann whitney.
First you put data in to 2 columns e.g if you're looking at rainfall in two months and you take 6 readings in each month then do two columns for January and June (just for example). Then put in data from readings under each column. Rank each column lowest first BUT remember to rank both columns together. This means, don't do separate ranks for Jan and one for June. Combine them. If the data is as follows:

    Jan Jun
    200 80
    300 200
    150 170
    400 100
    450 70
    310 60

Then you know that 60 is the lowest so that gets rank 1, then 70 gets rank 2, then 80 gets rank 3, then 100 gets rank 4, then you use 150 for rank 5 even though it's under Jan. So you go on like this...
Then once you've ranked them, you need to add up your ranks for each column..once this is done use the Mann whitney formula to input the figures. n1 and n2 are the sample sizes so basically 6 for Jan and 6 for Jun.
Hope this helps and please feel free to pass this on.

yeah thats basically what i tried to do! it wasnt the nicest of essays, but i suppose it will have to do!
I did the plate tectonics essay too!

I added that LEDC/MEDC differences could obscure our understanding, as a shallow focus earthquake in an MEDC may look like a deep focus earthquake in comparison to another shallow focus earthquake in an LEDC, due to the destruction being so much more in an LEDC! That was absolute bull plop...regret adding it in a way, as think it totally wasted my time..but hey, I suppose you have to get those differences in there somewhere and couldn't think of a counter argument..until I got out the exam, and everyone wrote that it can't be proved..

but also, did you use hot spots as helping the understanding of the distribution of volcanoes? I think I may have just misunderstood them a little *bangs head on table*...first of all I said, that it can't help our understanding of some volcanoes locations as they occur away from plate boundary..but still, plate tectonics theory explains this, as it is due to plate movement that they occur (grow through plates moving and are eventually carried away by plates, and made extinct)...
