Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHor bronze if the boudaries are the same or only slightly lower(Original post by beaux1)
oh and j_browder1, probably silver? depends on the boundaries though.

Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCH
I think most people have found it harder- my maths teacher agreed, but since I didn't do it last year, so I can't comment, although the general consensus is that it was harder, thus the boundaries may be lower? did one used to lose marks for incorrect answers for questions 1-15? was unaware of that, so boundaries could be higher, so you may get a bronze? I am however estimating wildly but bronze is for the top 40% isn't it? That's a rather large span, so you may be in with a chance!

Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHIt'll almost certainly make the Kangaroo (pink kangaroo if you're in year 10/11, grey kangaroo if you're in year 9 or below). It's probably enough for the Cayley (year 9 and below olmypiad paper). If the boundaries are lower than usual it might be enough for Hamilton (year 10 olympiad paper), though I doubt it'll be enough for Maclaurin (year 11 olympiad paper).(Original post by Spiky_Roses)
Will 95 make it to any sort of further round?

Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHIt was 90 in 2009, 91 in 2010.(Original post by ivan15)
Anyone knows the boundaries for Olympiad in earlier years?? I'm in year 10 and i got 102. I wonder if it's not above the boundary in any years? Thanks (I know that the boundary for last year for year 10 is 99) -
Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHThanks, that's really helpful(Original post by Claree)

Re: Intermediate Mathematics Challenge Thursday 2nd February 2012 UNOFFICIAL MARK SCH
The boundaries are up! (last year's boundaries in brackets)
Certificates
Bronze 50 (45)
Silver 62 (59)
Gold 77 (78)
Kangaroo
Grey (Year 9) 77 (77)
Pink (Year 10 and 11) 87 (88)
Olympiads
Cayley (Year 9) 90 (92)
Hamilton (Year 10) 96 (99)
Maclaurin (Year 11) 101 (104)
(Maclaurin for me)
I think these reflect general opinions of the paper - 5 more needed for bronze and 3 more for silver as q1-15 were generally found easier than last year, but lower omypiad boundaries as the last questions were found signifcantly harder.Last edited by Claree; 15-02-2012 at 20:45.
