Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIthis is last years -(Original post by Ani001)
Hey Everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows the grade boundaries for Edexcel Triple Science? Exams are coming up real soon and I can't seem to find any helpful information anywhere, is anyone able to help?
Thanks =)
http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/I%20w...Boundaries.pdf
not sure if that's any help.. i don't do triple edexcel so don't really know what to look for, the grade boundaries probably won't change too much so think of it as a guideline -
Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIExactly. It shouldn't really be a FM module. I would say put it on AS maths modules, not GCSE, as many people would not understand it at GCSE in my opinion, no matter how easy it is. If people struggle with advanced Trig, surds and basic algebra, they aren't going to understand proof by induction!(Original post by justinawe)
Proof by induction is an FM module? I thought it was a normal A-Level Maths module, lol.
It could be a good idea to include it on GCSE though, the GCSE Maths syllabus is far too easy... -
Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark II
Does anyone know what type of bike I should buy in the summer holidays? I'm hopefully going to ride to sixth form on it and take it to University if I get that far..
I like the look of this:
Spoiler:Show
But I'm not really sure of what advantages road bikes bring? They have no suspension, less gears and more fragile. Also, I'm not sure if i'll be able to ride it on the pavement, the road can be scary sometimes
Or maybe something like this:
Spoiler:Show
My max budget would be about 299 I wouldnt realy want to spend anymore. -
Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark III think Proof by Induction is easier than Advanced trig lol. But definitely harder than the others!(Original post by CharlieBoardman)

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIi'm thinking about getting a new bike too as i will comfortably be able to cycle (no more skirts woooo!! i'm a bit of a tomboy and have been forced to wear a skirt every school day for five years - bring on black trousers!!!!(Original post by multiplexing-gamer)

i've been browsing and have ruled out road bikes as they just look too flimsy for my liking - especially after being a bit of a mountain biker myself lol -
Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIYes, but I'm not talking about what you and I find easy. I'm talking more general, and in general, some people struggle with advanced trig, and even surds and basic algebra. I imagine a lot of people would also find proof by induction exceptionally difficult. So throwing Proof by Induction would not benefit them whatsoever.(Original post by GreenLantern1)

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark III'm not completely sure (I'm not getting any results myself), but generally speaking the grade boundaries come out the day before the results do, so I'd say Wednesday.(Original post by Paramore<3)
Does anyone know when the March grade boundaries are released - is it tomorrow or Wednesday?

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIAh good luck! When I go to University towns (Cambridge etc) they all have touring and cycloross bikes, do you know why?(Original post by g.k.galloway)

At what price are you looking at? My current mountain bike (worth about £100-150) could pass as a BMX it's so small on me
, but then again I'm quite tall!

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIYes, but if we are doing GCSE Maths; then why if we can understand it wouldn't be possible for others! I think a fair few people in my set 1 class would be able to understand it given just a lesson to learn it. It is no harder than learning simple calculus for the first time.(Original post by CharlieBoardman)

Ok, yeah, that rings a bell. I just couldn't remember if it was the day before the results were issued to centres or students! Cheers.

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIThink about what you're saying, everybody who does GCSE maths isn't in top set. Yes, it is easy for us, and would be accessible by a few people in my set too. But what about the people in set 2 and 3?(Original post by GreenLantern1)

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIYes so it would be an A* thing to differentitate between A and A* grade students. This is the prolem with GCSE Maths. You could get an A* if you got all the A* level questions completely wrong yet just under full marks in the rest of the questions. That is why they either need more A* discriminative questions or need to up the grade boundaries.(Original post by CharlieBoardman)

IMO 18% for a C is just absolutely ridiculous. Not saying Maths is easy but the grade boundaries are appalling IMO. 18% UMS is a low U!!!! This does not seem at all acceptable to me!
I will laugh after when I get an A in GCSE Maths ehhe!

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIYewh but to be fair if you are taught it you can do it. If they rteach it here I am sure a lot of people could do it.(Original post by multiplexing-gamer)
In Hong Kong their GCSE equivalent is on par with A-level I heard...
