Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark II
So, here is the question:
Explain, with examples, how television programmes and/or radio programmes and/or films affect a person's attitude to belief in God. (worth 8 marks)
And this is what I've written so far:
The media is a main staple in modern society and can therefore have a huge impact on the way people run their lives as well as the way they think. Eastenders is one of the highest rated shows in the UK and a number of the show's storytelling have included religious people, the character Dot Cotton is a prime example as she is a devout Christian. Her strong belief in God but incredibly eventful life can have an affect on people's outlook on God and they'll question whether God is so benevolent after all as he is surely the main reason why Dot's son is a sadistic criminal, the majority of her friends are dead and her husband is seriously ill.
I've obviously not finished but is this good so far? How can I improve? I'm also doing Short Course RS. -

Really worried ;/ My knee randomly swelled up last night and my dr is seeing me asap, i might be going in to hospital with suspected blood clot in my knee :/ Just when I have to be at school for my exams!
Are you ok?

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIAh just got back! My dr said on phone I could have had deep vein thrombrosis which is a blood clot in the knee which could have been caused by my contraceptive pill but when I went she said to keep and eye on it and if my calf in my leg swells to call 999 immediately. Atm she said it looks like my knee cap if inflamed and to do no excercise for 3 weeks and to wear lose clothing
Thing is my knee is so swollen I cant fit my school skinny fit trousers on so gonna have to wear trackies and dont want school to kick off at me as they're strict with uniform and said there's no excuses for our uniform standards to drop a week before we leave :/ -
Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIJust thought about this and I was wondering if maybe you (or anyone else) had an explanation for this:
When perpendicular lines meet, the product of their gradient is -1, right?
However, say if we have the lines y = 3 and x = 5.
The gradient of the y=3 in undefined, and the gradient of the x = 5 is 0.
So is this not an exception for the rule that perpendicular lines's gradients have a product of -1? Or is their another explanation for this?
Make sense?

Yes I know you wouldn't have
don't know why somebody else has though!

They're probably just jealous by the fact that you have fewer exams than them

At least you know what's up.
Re. your uniform - is there no way your school would let you wear trackies if you took a note? I think that's how it works in my school.

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark III wish my school allowed me to wear smart casual to school at this stage. I'd kill to be able to wear an oxford shirt + smart chinos + brogues instead of uniform xD(Original post by Pandora.)

My parents never let me do anything apart from revise and stay in

Re: Current Year 11 Thread Mark IIIt's not a brand (e.g. Jack Wills), it's a type of shirt.(Original post by multiplexing-gamer)
What's an Oxford shirt?
Information on the cloth - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_(cloth)
Example shirt, which I happen to own - http://bit.ly/K257b3
Best bit about them? They can be casual with the top button undone, or smart once you button the collar down and do up the top button.

I'm in the same boat as Paparazzo here. My mum trusts me to do well now, which is slightly worrying as it's a fair amount of pressure, but, it's worth doing the work if it means I gain her trust, and am allowed out to parties and stuff still.

I always feel so relaxed when I'm not wearing uniform, I feel so imprisoned by mine.

For example, if I ever go out they ring me all the time, and everything has to be dangerous in their eyes. E.G:
Longboarding - I'll break my arms and never use it
Trip to Sierra Leone - I'll get Aids ?! Wth
Going out past 6pm - Someone will mug me
Gap year - Someone will plant drugs on me at customs and I'll go prison
I cant ride to sixth form on my bike, I'll fall off
The list goes on, I cant do much apart from watch TV, revise, play PS3 and go on the internet... -

Hilarious, actually hilarious.
Yeah pretty much. Although I can understand why uniform is compulsory, I'm leaving in 6 weeks, can't they just let wear my own clothes before I leave?!(Original post by Pandora.)
I know!

Sorry, that gave me a funny image. Your parents sound very overprotective - but there's surely to be a silver lining in there somewhere!
By the time you're in sixth form, you'll be 16/17 and a gap year 18/19 - your parents need to know that it's your life now, and you shouldn't be bound by them constantly.
Everytime I sleep at a friends house at the weekend I always get texts/phone calls from my grandma checking if I'm ok... I don't know what sort of people she thinks me friends are!
Welcome to the thread!
