St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )
Hi to all,
I bet there are already people who got an offer and I though to myself that I can create a thread like that since I don't see one.
I got in for Msc in Advanced Computer Science. Share what you got in for, background, admission decision timing and anything that could be interesting

I got an offer, AAB for Spanish and Arabic, and I like the university but I just worry about how posh it seemed when I visited. I've been at a pretty posh (state) sixth form for two years and its driving me a little mad. Would be useful to get other peoples opinions..

Hi everyone

I got an offer for MLitt Modern and Contemporary Literature.
Does anyone know what the facilities (library, computer clusters, student union etc.) are like. I don't want to rely entirely on what they advertise on their website

I dont really know. It is kind of strange. I hear St Andrews is very very slow with decisions, but I applied like end of November and got my admission mid December, so I really dont know. Maybe they reply early to applicants who applied very early.

Re: St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )Hello! Congratulations - I'm going to apply for the MLitt in Modern & Contemporary Literature too! St Andrews wouldn't have been my first choice location wise, but the course looks fantastic!(Original post by lillysecond)

How long did it take for them to assess your application? I'm a little worried that I'm a bit late in applying. -
Re: St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )
Yeah, same for me. St. Andrews isn't my first choice location wise either. I'm trying to decide between St. Andrews and Edinburgh and I just can't seem to make up my mind.
It took them about 2 weeks to decide on my application.I thought it was rather fast. And I only applied in mid January, so I think you're not too late
Good luck!

Re: St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )Oooh I've got an offer for French-Spanish-Italian (WIYA), although i'd like to do some Russian modules at some point.(Original post by annamaria1)

I'm visiting in March and i'm from a state school too (although in a fairly nice area). -

I've got my references confirmed, so I'm going to put in my application imminently.
Mine will be between UCL and St Andrews, and then anywhere else I decide to apply to (I'm toying with Kings, Goldsmiths and Edinburgh too). It's such a big decision to make...
I'll probably try and visit St Andrews if I get an offer. Have any of the other Postgrad students visited the town? -

I have an offer for Philosophy, and I have the exact same concern. I couldn't care less what kind of backgrounds people have, but I'm often judged for having a (very) humble background and I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm certainly not well-off financially, I guess I'm just worried that I'll be in a different world to everybody else and so won't really connect with many people. -
Re: St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )
I got an offer for Theology, asking for AAA. It was a very nice Valentine's Day present I have to say. I sent it on the 1st of November so it wasn't such a long wait. The state school is the thing that is worrying too. I'm at a Catholic sixth form although you wouldn't think it and my secondary school was definitely not up to much (the headteacher took to the tannoy to announce we had finally moved up to 'good' in Ofsted rating).
I'm rather optimistic in thinking that if we are all moving towards a degree, we'll have something in common. I hope.
Anyway, congratulations on all the offers! -
Re: St. Andrews Offers 2012 ( got an offer and want to chat )Don't worry, even though most of the people you meet will have drastically different backgrounds, you'll find something to talk about.(Original post by electric-wars)

Most of my friends have radically different backgrounds to me.
And you better get used to seeing posh folk. You will find exclusive groups ( more than usual) but there are some people with 'normal' backgrounds too (like myself). -

Do you think that's it for philosophy offers then? I haven't heard back yet. I have a conditional from LSE but was hoping to have St Andrews as my insurance... do you mind sharing with me the conditions of your offer? Thanks
