Firm Mlitt? Isn't Mlitt a postgrad course? How do you "firm" it when it has nothing to do with UCAS?
Sorry, perhaps I should have said confirm whether I was going to accept the offer.

Congratulations. May I ask which department offered you the scholarship? Did you apply specifically or was it offered to you along with your application?

The School of English. I wasn't going to even bother applying for it, but they extended the deadline and turned over my course application in a few days and told me I could go for it. It's a fee waiver, so it will definitely help.

Is anyone besides me paranoid about not meeting the conditional offer?
Almost definitely sure I'm going to firm it, but yeah I am so terrified! Can't afford to slip up. I didn't think I was going to get an offer, and since I have, I kinda have my heart set on going.

Usually AAA, I'm pretty sure. Might be a stretch for me this year.

Has anyone asked to defer for a year? Do you know if it's possible at all? I'm thinking about it and thought I'd ask here first before asking PG admissions, because I haven't completely made up my mind.

I'm sorry I'm posting my questions here instead of the thread about finance, but actually I haven't received a definite answer there so I thought you might help me.

I have started to fill the SAAS application, but was unable to send it because I have 2 questions left.
    The first is:
[page 10] Do you have...* - if it is "permanent residence", is it meant to be a permanent residence in the UK or in EU?
And on the same page there are two pdf forms attached. Do I need to fill them? (I am an EU student)

    Thanks in advance!

I have an offer for September 2012 and i cam currently filling out the accommodation application. I am very keen to live in St Salvators/McIntosh/St regulus/John Burnet. If i on my form, put all my preferences 1-4 as standard catered and then that i am prepared to share a room, can i almost be guaranteed one of these halls?
    Thanks!

Hi there! I have offers from St Andrews and Bristol too! Went to go and visit St Andrews yesterday and absolutely loved it, but i said that about Bristol when i visited as well. I am pretty sure i have chosen St Andrews now. Here are my reasons...feel free to dispute any of them as i too am trying to clarify and confirm my decision!

    1. The 4 year scottish course, particularly at St Andrews is so much better: it is flexible and i heard that 40% of students graduate with a different degree to what they applied for. This really appeals to me and also the first 2 years don't count to your degree. One of the History lecturers told me the first year is pretty easy and this way you can really amerce yourself in university life.
    2. St Andrews is Special: I am from London and know so many people going to Bristol. To get an offer from St Andrews is such a privilege - it seems stupid to turn it down. St Andrews is not the real world - it is far from it but the way i see it is that there is plenty of time for the real world after university. The only down side i can think of to St Andrews is the small size, but even that has its advantages as it gives it more of a special community feel - something you wouldn't get at a city university like Bristol but if it is something you like then move to a big city after uni! The traditions and the exclusivity of St Andrews in that it is a small university makes it a special place - a once in a lifetime opportunity to study there!
    3. The international reputation and student body i see as a real plus. Of course St Andrews is not the real world but being surrounded form people around the world must be pretty cool where as at Bristol this would not be the case.
    4. It consistently does well with student satisfaction, winning almost every year. The way i see it is: how can you not go if you are almost guaranteed to have a great time?!

Anyway, i hoped this helped! Please anyone feel free to dispute this or add to the list as i too have not yet confirmed my place and am trying to figure things out! I realise i am not a student and my opinion is only based on what i saw from my open day!

You can only put one of your preferences as standard catered, after all.. that's what preferences are all about. Your other 3 preferences must be ensuite catered, andrew melville, en suite self catered, etc. Although if you do put standard catered and shared as your 1st choice, it is likely you will get one of those halls. Although Uni Hall could also be likely.

Hello! I'm a Hungarian student and my offer is an average of 5 in my subjects in Erettsegi (~A-levels). I'm taking 6 Erettsegi exams and of course I'll try my best to get a 5 in all of them (which equals an 'A'), or maximum 2 4's (='B's) and I know no one can tell it for sure, but do you think it's possible that they'd accept me with 3 5's and 3 4's? How strict are they in it? (My subject is Art History).

    Congrats on the offers guys!

I was just wondering what grades you guys got to get in? I really want to go to St Andrews next year because it's the best uni in Scotland and its really close to where I live (Dundee)...

For my highers, I'm studying Higher Maths, English, Accounting, Business Management and Computing and in 6th year I'll be taking Advanced Maths, Advanced English, Higher Modern Studies and Higher Physics.. What kind of grades would I be looking at to get an offer for Maths and Economics?
