Re: Losing excitement for VITAThat didn't stop me, perfect little game for my commute, and I'll probably end up picking up Fifa 13 if its got the console features if they release it in November.(Original post by cgvince)
Also if any of you are considering buying fifa for vita, remember that its based on fifa 11s engine with fifa 12s presentation, so you will be playing a 2 year old version of fifa, and obviously it may not happen, but whats to stop EA releasing a beefed up fifa 13 for vita in november
As for a price drop, Sony could pull it off but I don't think they will until Christmas. Apparently sales are within expectations and until we hear Western sales we won't know. -
Re: Losing excitement for VITADespite the comments made in various reviews, the browser really isn't that bad. OK it's no Google Chrome and there's no Flash support (yet), but it's still perfectly usable.(Original post by silent ninja)
I know this is primarly a gaming device, but if they bump up the internet browser quality, add apps (such as Lovefilm, Netflix, Youtube etc support) then this would be a steal at £197. It would be a media device, much like a mini PS3. These are all things that can relatively easily be accomplished via firmware updates.
Anyway, as it stands, £200 for this seems like good value. That's really not much. Just compare to smartphones out there an even a mid-level device starts around £250.
I'm not sure about YouTube, but Lovefilm and Netflix apps are both supposedly on their way (Netflix is already available in the US) and there's talk of iPlayer coming to Vita in the near future. -
Re: Losing excitement for VITAThat's great news. I think £200 for this is good value. There's a lot of tech in there and it will get many updates in the years to come.(Original post by TheCrackInTime)

Re: Losing excitement for VITA
I want one but can't really afford it at the moment. I hope it succeeds though, it looks like a pretty solid console and it'd be a shame to see it flop... I just can't see it reaching PSP levels of success though, yet alone DS.
They're doing a great job at marketing it, apart from that TV advert. It's well made, sure, but it doesn't tell anyone what the Vita actually is and why they should buy it. The logo doesn't stay on the screen long enough either, literally blink and you'll miss it - Sony should take a leaf out of Microsoft's book, ads for the 360 are great, with a few seconds hold on the logo at the end (y'know, enough for people to actually take it in...) and a nice clear voice over telling you what it is. Jeeeez Sony frustrate me sometimes. -
Re: Losing excitement for VITA
I really want Flash/Java on this, to play videos from different websites (like what a tablet/ ipad can do). Heck, they could import the android market within it, so we can play android games on our very own PS Vita. Bit much to ask?
I don't think its a matter of it being hard to design/ build in. But, it's more of a 'Sony being stingy' and will not pay android to get licence to make android games compatible on the psp. Also, they wouldn't want customers using their money to buy android apps. *Sigh* My dream console will never be made.
I'm not sure whether I should buy a new laptop for University as mine is rubbish (vostro 1500), or to buy a new PS Vita and not get a good laptop...Last edited by r88ney; 28-02-2012 at 23:41. -
Re: Losing excitement for VITA
I'm actually tempted to grab one. I havent played a game in about 2-3 years now. In fact, the last game I completed was Uncharted 1-- that's way back. Anyway, the only thing seriously holding me back is the silly cost of the proprietary memory cards. Unless cheaper 3rd party cards are released, I'm gonna wait for a price drop (by which time I'll have lost the urge I imagine). So yeah, losing excitement; thread title says it nicely.

Re: Losing excitement for VITA
I think the VITA looks amazing. But there's no games that I really want for it.
I'm sticking to the DS/3DS. Best portable gaming consoles ever. They bring back the fondest memories of gaming with friends for me. Plus, the 3DS has some GOLD titles. There's loads of games I really want for it compared to the VITA.
The 3DS is underrated. It's a really nicely built system. -
Re: Losing excitement for VITA
Handheld gaming is all about iOS now for me. I have had gameboy colour, gameboy advance and nintendo ds and never thought a mobile/mobile like device (ipod touch etc) for gaming would be that good, but I actually find them a lot more fun.
If I want to play 'hardcore' games like gears, halo, COD, BF etc. I play console or PC. You can have hundreds of games on an ipod touch/phone that you can use it for other things as well.
Plus there are some pretty awesome games i.e. infinity ward on iOS, 10/10 from IGN. I also found assassin's creed and res. evil quite fun and different on a touch screen device.
Having said that I've played various handhelds (although rarely) for about 12 years since tetris and pokemon on gameboy, so it is expected I will be bored by them and looking for something different like a touch screen device. PS vita will be awesome, get one and have fun, but it's not for me personally.Last edited by kratos90; 02-03-2012 at 12:09.
