Thanks! For now, I actually want to aim to loose a total of 30 pounds (2 stones) for second year (September). I think that I finally said that I want to loose the weight and it is actually working. I just don't want to give up! I've taken the approach of smaller goals that add up (so I am able to see the goal quicker) rather then me setting some ridiculous goal and therefore giving up. You?

That sounds so achievable, much more motivating.

Copying and pasting from MFP - I have lost weight before, I was 17 and at one stage returned a coat twice because I kept going down a size within 2 months I was 16 then 14 then 12. I had gotten some kind of illness like a stomach bug and just didnt see the appeal of food/feel the constant pull of food and forgot about dessert until the next day. I walked 30mins a day after school and bought cute clothes in a size ten at Topshop. Then later I suddenly got struck down with a medical condition that had me off school in bed all day (no walking and eating whatever I liked to feel better), every medicine I was put on - I have now tried them all - came with free side effects of increased appetite and weight gain.

Now, Im gonna be 25 this year and I have my sister's 30th birthday holiday in september and my cousin's mexico wedding next april so the seconds when I want to be down 63lbs. September is less of a goal - 20, 30, more it all sounds amazing. Taken the average of today's scales Im half a stone down in 3 weeks so Im just finally getting into the weightloss like you are and like I did before - it feels right and I dont want to ruin the work Ive already done. I guess these photos are big things from the holidays, passed round to everyone and there are some kids in my family now so I dont want them growing up thinking of me as the fat relative. Sorry this is so long!! :p:

Thank you Flo
I've had to think a lot about my career recently, and I would LOVE to be able to help people to lose weight somehow. I don't want to be a personal trainer, nor do I want to be involved in a franchise like Slimming World or anything, but I would like to be able to do that kind of thing.. anyone know of any careers that may suit that, or am I just kidding myself?

Life coach is your only option really, if you had a degree in social work/counselling you could really get into it. Personal trainer is the only other thing where youd get to do what you want.

I have a Psychology degree which I think is a good start.. yeah I think it's a good idea. Maybe try and be employed as part of a health centre kind of like a dietician but more of a counsellor.. if that makes sense. idk. I would LOVE to start my own weight loss support group but have no idea where to start, and whether anyone would even come!

I also think youd make very little money, SW is £5 a week so say 6 people its more like pocket money and itll take up your evening or weekend. Most people prefer trusted brands its annoyingly pushy towards the internet if thats what you want to do alongside a counselling/health agent role. Though those roles are likely to be few and far between given by the government and going to people with dietician/nutritionist qualifications - if you had those you could go to things like chiropractors/acupuncturists/physio therapist clinics and be employed there or rent an office within as well as applying to government/health centre roles.

Id still be the same, slow and good weight loss, Id just have an accurate set of scales with a clear screen and built in chart of my weight loss. Ooooo I dont know if I should take it as my reading..

Oh no I meant before it tells you what weight you are it gives a load of random weights before it stops... don't think I could handle that lol.

Thanks for the advice :-). You're right it would be hard.. I'll carry on thinking though! I wish I had money then I could do all these things without having to charge people at all!

I know a lot of my friends and family want to lose weight so maybe I'll start a support group for free just in my spare time and keep the job I have .

Yes, it is normal to try on your younger brother's clothes..

Ah! Youre right, I hadnt even thought about that. I think it would be agonising.

Yeh that would be a great start and give you some references so they can tell their friends etc. If youre serious about branching into a career like it you could do a bit of OU in counselling (my friends doing a course, not OU, and says you need the specific so i didnt think your current qualification would be it) or health and social care or sport, fitness and coaching - you dont have to be a fitness instructor but having that would put ppls confident in the advice you give.

EDIT

Tonight we had homemade Thai feast - I had to physically restrain my sister from putting another heap of rice in my bowl after already saying no, I said no to my mum at least 3 times about different things and stopped eating the duck pancake when I thought it was too chewy instead of finishing it all for the various reasons I would usually have given - if only I hadnt eaten that first one thinking it was that one bit of duck! Yum though

Brilliant!! Well done you . I remember my first pair of 16s and it's like a huge victory.. because 16 is a vaguely ACCEPTABLE size, whereas size 18 (not even MENTIONING the size 20 and 22 I had to go through beforehand) is just not even acknowledged. At least in fashion mags there are "curvy" sections that cater for size 16s.. so it's kind of a real size for the first time ever! That's what I thought anyway :P.

It sounds like you want to do something in a fairly similar area to what I'm considering doing. I'm currently just chilling and feeling my way forward in life while trying to decide on a career. I've been preparing to apply to study Medicine in Denmark but have been looking at other things like Social Work, Counselling etc.

I'm currently studying to be a Fitness Instructor because I want to help people in the way you want to and I love the motivational/emotional support side which I won't get as much of in that role as I want. Life Coach probably covers much of what I would like to do with myself and my abilities but it sounds too silly.

Basically I've been through a lot myself and I want to be there to help other people through hard times and onto happier things. I could be that to an extent as a doctor and with £££ but it will take a lot of work to get onto the course and a long time studying (6 years in Denmark!). So... starting off with Fitness Instructor as my source of income in the meantime (hopefully) and seeing where I go from there.

Dietitian? You'd need to take a few more undergrad modules in biochem and physiology than I presume your psych degree covered, but you could then apply for a Masters or PGDip in Dietetics. I'm guessing the NHS is gonna need more dietitians as the prevalance of obesity worsens.

Or you could use your psych degree to go on to clinical psychology and specialise in eating disorders.

Thanks for your help both of you, and everyone else who gave me ideas as well. I know I'll have to do more training.. but I can't even think about that right now as I'm fed up of education so need at least a year working. Plus there's no way I can afford it yet. Ideally OU would have something suitable as I would rather study from home as it would give me much more time to fit work around it, so I'll have to keep my eyes open!

I will find where I fit at some point.. goodness knows when.. but I will!

tbf my diet could have been a lot crappier. I've had a few wispa bites, some peanut butter cups and a Feast icecream today in terms of crappy food..so not awful! Just gotta keep fighting....
