On my way to the venue of my run, mum said she would have come but she cancelled at last minute

Working in an office is definitely good for me... No chance to eat except at actual meal times, and being indoors at a desk all day means I really want to go out and run when I get home! Think I'm doing my hill runs wrong tho - walk up, run down
Tho when the hill in question is 1.7 miles to the top, I think it's kinda ok to be unable to run up it

I hit a new level of stupid today. So I got to the start line, and wondered for about 10 minutes why no one was there. I then decided to check the letter. The run was Monday

Nevertheless, I did a 5k run anyway. Did it in a rubbish time (42 minutes due to shins still hurting). There's a park run on Saturday, so will do the charity run then.

Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2That sounds good to me, although you might want to think about alternatives to bananas; 1 is good but having 4 everyday might be a bit much! Make sure your eating enough though; you should net at LEAST 1200 everyday, so bear that in mind with all your exercising.(Original post by GildedButterfly)

Does anyone have any tips for aching muscles? My legs are so stiff and painful from my cycle on Sunday, I'm walking round like a cripple! Really don't think I should have pushed myself so hard; my fitness is still pretty shoddy as until recently I was very ill and not doing any exercise at all. I've tried stretching, gentle walking, hot bath, now I'm just sitting here moaning and feeling sorry for myself! -
Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2
Has anyone here bought a cross trainer?
I'm thinking of getting one to work out on in the mornings (since I still get embarrassed when I go for runs outside). I could get one for around £90, or I could join a gym near me which is around £20 a month. I'm home for 3 months and I want to get as fit and lose as much weight as I can in that time. -
Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2It's Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). It's pretty annoying but it's not lethal. Just keep moving and doing what you've been doing and it will go away eventually. It happens because your muscles aren't used to the exercise, but the more you perform an exercise the more conditioned your muscles will be so you'll stop getting it after a few sessions.(Original post by Sultana)

Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2
I have realised that I cant divert from the path at work - I need something in the evening and despite whatever I have, even when having bread at dinner as a treat or curly fries, I just feel the need for that bit of sugar atm. Now I know I dont need it and I havent always been like this - about the last week and a half - but I seem to be able to have the self control at work (only just, its taken a few days to get that back) by thinking Ill have something later but not have the will power in the evening to think Ive already had smarties or something so dont need anything. Hopefully this will pass again soon like last time but right now Im cutting stuff out at work to the bare essentials of healthy-ness that I bring from home so I dont have such a terrible day. I guess how busy Ive been has something to do with it, its definitely effecting my work with being pulled to all kind of meetings/having new starters to look after/new job spec and loads of apprenticeship coursework to get done then not getting the job last week but my dream job then coming up at work (i am constantly thinking about this and Ive called the guy twice and he still hasnt called me to talk like he said he would the first time I called on monday afternoon
). Aaargh must really get back on it.

Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2I sympathise, I've been limping around the office from running! Ibuprofen (if you're not asthmatic etc) is good in the short term.(Original post by Sultana)

Thank you both, it is very annoying! Although I have managed to get my friend making me lots of tea as I 'can't' manage the walk downstairs, so its not all bad(Original post by Becca-Sarah)

I will carry on with gentle exercise and hope it fixes itself soon.

Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2Gym membership! It'll be cheaper, you'll have a varied workout, you'll get an induction on all the machines and can try strength if you want to, and you won't get bored.(Original post by -jessica)

Re: Healthy New You: Your Change For Life #2Oh no! But today's a new day, and one meal won't make all that difference overall anyway.(Original post by cpdavis)
Oh gosh.
So after my run yesterday, I decided to have some of my mum's prawn pasta, not bothering to ask what's in it. After finishing, I asked what was in it. One of the main ingredients - double cream. Now I don't want to eat anymore
