Edexcel Soultion Bank Problems? (PC/Mac)

I've been having trouble getting the solution banks (solutions to all the questions in the edexcel modular textbooks) to work on both Mac's and PC's. Thought id'e share a fix that will work for everyone:

For Mac's (and PC's if necessary):

1. Insert CD
2. Open CD file
3. Click on 'content'
4. Click on 'sb'
5. Click on 'content'
6. Click on 'images'

This will take you to a file containing all the images of the solutions. There are lots of files so you will have to use the search option. The images have a logical naming system so it's easy to find the solution for a particular question.

This worked for PC's (taken from the troubleshooting section on the CD):

1. Go to the following web page on the Adobe/Macromedia website: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html

2. Select Global Security Settings Panel from the table of contents on the left hand side of the screen.

3. In the Settings Manager, you will see a drop-down menu entitled Edit locations. Select Add location.

4. The Settings Manager will grey out and you will now see a type-in box with “Trust this location” above it.

5. If you are intending to save the contents of the CD to your computer, type in the following text (or copy and paste):

File:///C:/

Note that if you intend to save the contents of the CD to a different drive on your computer, you will need to substitute the letter of the appropriate drive.

If you are intending to run the software straight from the CD, type in the following text (or copy and paste):

File:///D:/

Note that if your CD drive is not D, you will need to substitute the letter of the appropriate drive.

6. Click Confirm and close down the Adobe/Macromedia website. Your Flash Player should now be able to fully access the software.

You could also use this website:

http://www.sci2.co.uk/maths.html

Note that the solution banks only work for some of the modules. You can however access all the textbook pages.

I'm sorry for bumping an old post, but you clearly haven't received the recognition you deserve for finding this!

Thank you SO much!!

This is great, I've only ever been able to make it work on windows 7 at best:

You can also run it on a new internet explorer (on a PC) by running it in Quirks mode - press F12 to get to developer tools, and then change the document mode to quirks mode (I think the shortcut is alt-Q)

You can also run it in firefox, again on a PC, it comes up blank for a mac, via these instructions - www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvSL0Rnm1lg‎

The images thing is awesome, someone created PDFs of all the solutions here https://www.xtremepapers.com/community/threads/solution-banks-converted-to-pdf.23869/ I don't know how long it took them, it's good to use on an iphone or something that can't deal with the image search needed to find the right image.

Thanks again

If you have java on your mac, just download the respective jar here: http://pastebin.com/46BwnSQj

You input an exercise and question number, and it opens the pdf there and then. Awesome project.
