Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
I'm wondering the same. I'm going to be coming over from the US. I have two friends at Birkbeck right now who hate their dorms (bad food, stuck with loud people) and they were told that you can get private housing for much cheaper so now I'm undecided. Anyone have input?

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
I rang the accomodation office yesterday and they said the earlier you apply for halls the better but being a home student I have a really bad chance. Since you're overseas, you have a good chance of getting halls! I don't really want to go to catered so I applied for the Rectory as it's quite near where my course is based too.

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?Have you had any luck or good websites that are helpful?(Original post by NeuralYelir)
I'm a home student too & I've got the impression that I wouldn't have much luck getting into Kings halls, so I've been looking around at private ones. -
Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
I've been using accomodationforstudents.com, you can search by city and filter it to the type of accomodation you're looking for. Hope that helps!
I've been to view a few that I've found on there and I've got a couple more viewings next weekend, so hopefully should have it sorted soon. -

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
I've been accepted to the MA in Ancient History at King's, and I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on what accommodation is like. What are some of the pros and cons for the various residences? If there are any former students, what are your thoughts on the places you stayed while at King's?

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
Hello Itsallacademic, I'm applying to KCL for a PhD in War Studies as well. I heard from my potential supervisor this week and he seems interested. I have no idea if thats how most of them do it, or how long its going to be before I get any sort of official institutional notification.

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
Hey guys it is just for an advise. I'm an international student and I would like to do a bachalor ( BSc Business and management ) at KCL. But I would also like to know which university between Warwick, LSE, Kings, Exeter or Leicester should be taken to be able to apply for an MBA in London Business School.
Voilà.
Thanks guys

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?Hey, how's things? I've been offered a place on the MA International Peace and Security programme and have to get my act together re accommodation pretty soon. Do you reckon you have much of a chance getting halls etc if you're from Ireland, or are they more aimed towards (proper) international students? I haven't really looked into it so not sure how stringent they are, but may as well apply anyway.(Original post by emmageography2012)
Has anyone who has been offered a postgrad course at King's thought about accomodation? -
Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
I'm an overseas student too from the United States, will be beginning this fall MA in Child Studies! I'm super excited but I'm concerned about accommodation. I ruled out King's Halls for the most part because I'd prefer to live a bit away from "dorm" life.
On another thread I was directed to the website spareroom.co.uk where you can look for flat-shares and also find other people looking.
If anyone else is considering a flatshare let me know! -
Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?Hey, how's it going? Yeah, probably will be looking at a flatshare alright. You're right, there's a lot to be said for living away from a dorm lifestyle, as convenient as it may be. Probably won't be looking too actively until July when results are out and I can be 100% sure of my place at King's though!(Original post by Meallicanoffer)

Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
Hey, I have applied for the same course. Did you have to do the online test? Did you have an interview? What kind of questions did they ask? I really would appreciate any tips or advice from you.
Thanks

I'm also an international student from the US and I'll be doing an MSc in Forensic Science. I put in Wolfson House, The Rectory and Nutford House as my top choices for accommodation, but I'm also looking into private accommodation... -
Re: King's College POSTGRADUATE 2012- which halls?
Hi,
Having lived in Vauxhall for a year since my undergrad I can say that it is so much cheaper finding a flatshare and more convenient, less noisey and more homely.
I'm looking to move in with other students for when I start my MSc in sept (Aquatic resource management at Kings) as it is good to live with people who are also studying and I'm currently living with friends from home who are young professionals.
I found the Facebook KCL flatmate finder which seems useful, and the UOL Housing Services website. Spareroom.com also has a huge selection.
Get in touch if you're a postgrad looking to live near Strand campus! :-)
