Favourite quotes from films
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Re: Favourite quotes from filmsOnce used this in an R.E. exam at GCSE when I couldn't remember any biblical quotes.(Original post by jasond567)
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
Pulp Fiction
I failed
Vincent: And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the **** a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules: Then what do they call it?
Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese. -
Re: Favourite quotes from films
"What we got here is a failure to communicate"
"Kick his ass Seabass" (makes me lol everytime =D)
"You're dressed for Eton"
"Well that's swell, we haven't eaten since breakfast"
"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one that it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not the hero; he's a silent guardian, the watchful protector...the Dark Knight"
"Nobody tosses the dwarf" (gotta love Gimli)
And i duno if it's in the film but it's in the book and is my all time favourite quote ever:
"Tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther....so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaslessly into the past" -

Re: Favourite quotes from films
*LOTR geek*
Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought.
Frodo: It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.
Gandalf: Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.
Not because of the film, but because they are meaninful quotes, that maybe some of us could learn to live by. -
Re: Favourite quotes from films
Harold: You sure have a way with people.
Maude: Well, they're my species!
&
[seagulls fly across the sky]
Maude: Dreyfus once wrote from Devil's Island that he would see the most glorious birds. Many years later in Brittany he realized they had only been seagulls... For me they will always be glorious birds. -

Captain Hook: Oh, I hate being disappointed, Smee. And I hate living in this flawed body. And I hate living in Neverland. And I hate... I hate... I *hate* Peter Pan! -
Re: Favourite quotes from filmsThere are so many good quotes from that film...(Original post by introvertedraccoon)
'Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know which one you gonna get.'
I think you can tell which movie that is from.
'I may not be smart but I know what love is.'
'And that's all I gotta say about that...'
'Mamma always said you could tell a lot about a person by their shoes. Where they go, where they've been...'
'Stupid is as stupid does.'
This isn't one of the most memorable ones but I love it all the same:
'Luitenant Dan, this is my Jenny...' The way he says it is so cute.Last edited by inadilemma; 09-02-2012 at 20:11. -
Re: Favourite quotes from films
It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. (LOTR obvs)
I say what I mean and I do what I say. (Heat)
My name is Neo. (no need to explain)
Is this it? That's what it's all about, Manny? Eating, drinking, ****ing, sucking? Snorting? Then what?
Don Corleone: I knew Santino was going to have to go through all this and Fredo... well, Fredo was... But I, I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life, I don't apologize, to take care of my family. And I refused to be a fool dancing on the strings held by all of those big shots. That's my life, I don't apologize for that. But I always thought that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the strings. Senator Corleone, Governor Corleone, something.
Michael: Another pezzonovante.
Don Corleone: Well, there wasn't enough time, Michael. There just wasn't enough time.
You'll see one day when you move out it just sort of happens one day and it's gone. You feel like you can never get it back. It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't even exist. Maybe it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't ever have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I don't know, but I miss the idea of it, you know. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people that miss the same imaginary place. (Garden State)
Okay reading this through, I realise my post is long and I have a man crush on al pacino

Re: Favourite quotes from films
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Timo Cruz (Coach Carter) [2005]
