Haven't met that many northerners tbh. Depends which bars you go to and how many bar staff you get to know
I'm lucky enough to have friends scattered around bars and clubs all over cardiff!
Well youll know its me soon as i start talking
Ahh well in leeds its about 1.25 for doubles and bombs on select nights
And 2.50 for a calsberg
Roughly i only go to two bars tbh so not that much knowledge of prices.
Okay ill keep it in mind t make friends with the bar staff

Re: Cardiff met / uwicAhh a good person to talk to. I'm planning on either getting a laptop or MAC Airbook for this September. How is the MAC support on campus?(Original post by gateshipone)
The IT staff are awesome (not just saying that because I am one of them...)
And like the two posters above, I'm pretty poor at keeping my windows safe, and I just have bad look with them in general. I bought my first laptop two years ago, and 2 months later I had to replace the hard drive, due to the manufacturing. Then 3 months later my dog got hold of the cables and runied to port. I had it fixed, but now I have to move the cable around for it to charge, and sometimes I can't use it at all.
Oh, and I'm planning on studying Foundation for Social Science's, leading to Psychology. All I need is my maths, and it's a definite. Waiting for results is a pain.Last edited by ladysummers; 14-06-2012 at 14:58. -

Re: Cardiff met / uwicWe do support Macs, and they do tend to work with most things you'll need. Plus plenty of students have them. I would recommend dual booting windows as well just for the odd time where your Mac decides it doesn't want to work! I would say don't get an Air though, it doesn't have an optical drive and you may find you need to use software that is only available on a disc. Like SPSS, a stats program. You can get it free from the library but it comes on a disc. If you do insist on getting a Mac, get a macbook.(Original post by ladysummers)

My personal preference (ie not UWIC policy or advice!) is for a windows machine as they just tend to be easier to use with most things. Macs I've found are really fussy and will just refuse to work sometimes but not tell you why. With windows we can generally get them up and running again quickly.
Yeah I'm starting to realise we're going to be very busy in September and that's already the busiest time of the year!(Original post by Soph.Jade)

As much as I'm looking forward to meeting you 3, I will be looking for a new job all summer

Re: Cardiff met / uwicYeah, a lot of people in IT prefer Windows. But I've always wanted a Mac, I'm not sure I want to commit to the amount of money they cost. If I were to get a laptop, what would you recommend? I had a Packard Bell, and never again I say.(Original post by gateshipone)

I'm very virus prone, that's my problem. Let's just say I get told off for not protecting my laptop / desktop better. It's like virus protection hates me and only tells me there is one if it's about to die.
Apart from that, I treat my laptops like queens or kings
. I'll have to get you to install all the virus software in the world, instead of me torrenting them. xD

Re: Cardiff met / uwicI've always owned toshiba laptops and they've been great. Our loan laptops are Toshiba's too.(Original post by ladysummers)

Just download AVGFree and Malwarebytes and you'll be fine.
