What's it really like? I want to know everything the good, the bad and the ugly!

Southampton is, in general, very good.

There's not enough space here to tell you everything, but suffice to say there is a busy, varied nightlife, some of the new campus buildings are very nice indeed (but the Maths building is fugly) and everywhere is within walking distance.

In all seriousness, it's a really busy uni with a great atmosphere and social scene. I've only been here since September but am already in love with it.

it's a university. people do degrees here and sometimes have fun.
