Insert, symbol. There's probably a quicker way. You can use shortcuts (but go to Insert first).
see attatched pdf.

An easier way to do some of them (i.e. that doesn't involve learning codes):

Acute accent: Ctrl+' then the letter.
Accent grave: Ctrl+` then the letter
Accent circonflexe: Ctrl+shift+6 then the letter.

Unfortunately these don't work on here. Does anyone know what does?

Get OpenOffice! It's free from Openoffice.org, and the word processor has a toolbar with all the special characters on, arranged in the rank order by which you use them. It's very useful!

That's nifty. I lost my copy of OpenOffice when my computer melted last month. Maybe I should get around to redownloading it.

Those all work in Word, as well as a few more:
Diaresis (ä, ë, ï, ö, ü): Ctrl+Shift+; then the letter
Tilde (ã, ñ): Ctrl+Shift+# then the letter
Cedilla (ç): Ctrl+, then the letter

Hope that helps!
