Finding a student job in Guildford?
    Hi everybody!

I'm an international student and I got an offer from University of Surrey, but before accepting it I'd like to know is it hard to find a part-time job in Guildford?
I applied for MSc in International Hotel Management so I'd like to work in a hotel (well, in hospitality or tourism industry) while studying here... if you know anything about finding a job in Guildford or you worked here, please share your experiences with me.

    Thank you in advance!!!

Obviously finding a job in Guildford is harder than finding a job in a large city, however there are jobs out there. Also for it's size Guildford has a relatively vibrant town centre which doesn't seem to be suffering from the recession as badly as most other towns of a similar size, so I think you'd be surprised at how many jobs there are out there.

In any case, just look around, and apply apply apply until you get a job. Also a word of advice would be to sign up for 'unitemps' when you get here (google it, it's quite straightforward) who email you job opportunities not just on campus but also sometimes in town.

There's a new 4 star hotel which recently opened in Guildford, it has about 200 rooms, 2 restaurants. Hand your CV into them, I'm sure they'd be interested as it's related to your degree.

It's called the Radisson Edwardian, Guildford

One of my housemates last year was the construction site manager for the Radisson (I lived with a load of graduates...)

Anyway, definitely try there since it's relevent to your degree. Otherwise, there are loads of pubs and shops around town which are usually looking at various points - although a lot of non-first years I know go back a month or two early to try and get jobs before all the Freshers descend.

I've stayed at the Radisson. It's so beautiful, I'm sure that would be a great place for you to work.
