Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow!
Tattoo's are just an attention seeking fashion accessory for 95% of people.
Does my head in!
I heard this one guy, complete idiot, talking about how he hates people who bull**** deep meanings into their tattoos etc. (the same guy has some religious tattoo on his arm) girl says, "oh, are you religious?" he replies "nah" -
Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow!I see where you're coming from, I'm taking this cautious party pooper stance simply because tattoos are so instantly permanent, and the fact that if I got one myself i would undoubtably dislike it after some indiscriminate amount of time.(Original post by madders94)
Because life really is too short to sit there and think "I could do this and love it for the rest of my life... oh but there's the possibility I'd regret it, better not". If that was the attitude people had for every aspect of life - after all, we all make decisions every day that we could live to forget - then we'd all be quivering wrecks, sitting in our homes never daring to venture out in case we have a burning deckchair thrown at us by a clown in a scuba outfit. -

Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow! For 16 years old you're pretty damn pompous. You're also not in any sort of position to lecture people about how they'll regret something years down the line.(Original post by captainaesthetic)
Your perception and personality will change over time, and although you might think that the tattoo is deep or cool or whatever now, in a decade (or however long it takes), you're going to see it as being shallow, impulsive and pretty dumb.
Although you might think you know everything (i certainly do and I'm 16), it's really not a good idea.
Maybe I'll hate my tattoos in years to come, maybe they'll look stupid, but if that's the only thing I'm worrying about when I'm an old fogey then I'll take that gladly.

Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow!
my friend has small writing on her wrist, I think hers is fury of the poet in Latin, it's very easy to cover, she covers it all the time so I wouldn't worry too much about jobs,
not like it's on your neck,
but if you're worried about it still go for you upper arm maybe? or your shoulder? -
Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow!I got a tattoo at 16. I dont think ill hate it any time soon Im really glad I did it and i think it looks good. Just because YOU might take the view of hating something years after having it done, dont impose that onto others. Were all different; if the OP wants to have it done and has considered it for an extended period of time, surely part of his/her perception and personality would take form in that tattoo somehow? and if it changes, which it most probably will not as she/he is hardly a child anymore, maybe it can be looked back on as a fond memory instead of something bad?(Original post by captainaesthetic)
You'll probably ignore what I say, but whatever.
Don't get a tattoo.
It's not that it'll hinder your employment prospects, and it's not the stigma attached to having one, those things are minor.
It's just that, although it might be obvious, it stays there
for the rest of your life.
Sure, you can get laser surgery and get rid of it, but then you'll have a nice big red scar that's almost as bad.

Re: Help! Getting a tattoo tomorrow! You should also get a derisory tattoo on your forehead. Read some forums; you can cover it up with a hat.(Original post by purplerain1197)
So I'm getting my first tattoo done tomorrow. Told my family and now, as predicted, all hell breaks loose...
Iam planningwas planning on getting 'Numquam ce de' in italics/calligraphy writing written on my wrist, quite small writing, with a small orchid entwining itself around the text.
My dad is adamant that I don't get it done on my wrist as it will 'hinder job prospects', which I guess is true but after reading forums, I know I could cover it up with a watch/bracelet etc. My oldest sister says I shouldn't get it done on my wrist cos in years to come I could end up not liking it and then it'll be there all the time and ill have to keep looking at it; at least somewhere else i wont have to keep looking at it.
My other sister says that writing is chavvy, but im not a chav-far from it!-and its what i want because it means something to me.
I'm thinking about getting it done on my ankle now but i want something that means something to me, and ive always wanted it done on my wrist, but i do get what my dad and oldest sister are saying, so now im not so sure. ive already put a deposit down to get it done tomorrow and now ive no idea what to do! any help appreciated
