Hi and thank you soo much for your warm answer.

To answer your question I want soo much to study at your prestigious university. We had three report during my third year of my high school. The 1rst termester I had 18.75/20, the second termester I had 14.50/20 and finally the 3rest termester I had 16.25/20. Could you please clarify for me if I could intergrate at your university. And because of my finantial situation I could not be able to pay every thing , could you please offer me a scholarship for the fees of the english courses? I will do all my best to pay for my living cost.Thank you a lot for your understanding and for your time.
I am really sorry if I make some mistakes.

Sincerely,

Airdak.

Hi Airdak,

Thanks for the reply and really pleased to hear your sooooo keen to study at Lancaster!

With regards to your English scores (if these you mention here refer to French Bacc) because they are above 13 you could apply...but obviously you'll have to apply through UCAS in the normal way.

I'm sorry to hear that you cannot afford to pay for everything - I sympathise and know that lots of students find it tough to balance the costs of going to university. Have you looked at our student finance pages here for EU students:

Best wishes,

Fred

Hey Scaredofexams,

Firstly well done in getting a dual offer from Lancaster! Hopefully you will put us as your firm choice but.....

....having spoken to the Admissions Department, in short, the dual offer will still count if you put us down as your insurance but it also depends on what grades you get utimately and what your firm choice is asking for etc. If you want further advice on what to do please contact Mr Bob Brown in the Admissions Office 01524 65201.

All the best,

Fred

Thank you  just another quick question sorry, I am going to the LUMS post offer day tomorrow but there is not a specific talk for Marketing Management. Which talk do I need to attend, is it just the marketing one or do I need to attend the Management talk too?

http://www.lancs.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/fees-and-funding/scholarships-and-bursaries/

The above page states:

Students from England eligible for our £5,000 bursary package above will also be awarded a £3,000 Lancaster Scholarship if they achieve A*, A, A in their A-level examinations (or equivalent academic qualifications) and place Lancaster as their firm choice. This totals £8,000 of support for students during their studies.

I wanted to double check whether BTEC qualifications are considered too (even though it does say equivalent academic qualifications). Could you confirm it includes BTEC qualifications? I'd presume BTEC students would be required to achieve D*, D, D (or above?).

Also, would you happen to know which college (accommodation) is closer to the Computer Science lecture theatres?

Thanks in advance.

Hi lancaster!

What's the best advice you can give for international students attempting to gain successful entry into Lancaster?
Hi, how many weeks per year for english language in lancaster? How many weeks rent do you have to pay per year for a dorm room?

Term lasts for 30 weeks [usually split into 10 weeks Oct-Dec, 10 weeks Jan-March, 10 weeks April/May - June].

Of those 30 weeks, the last 5/6 are usually exam prep/examination timetable/socialising time.

Campus accommodation is usually on a 40 week let. This starts with Freshers week and then runs through until approx. 1 week after term finishes. The remaining 8 weeks are the holidays at Christmas and Easter.
I believe the townhouses are on a slightly longer let [maybe 42/3 weeks] and you can get some rooms [Cartmel?] on a 35/6 week let, as these rooms require vacation for the Easter holidays.

For a non townhouse accomodation, its 90 quid a week for a room right?

It varies. Last year, it varied from around £75 per week [for standard] up to £120ish [for a studio room]. Ensuite is around £100 I think.

Hi Erratic,

BTEC qualifications are definately accepted for scholarships yes. And you are right, you would need grades of D*, D, D or above.
We don't reccommend choosing accomodation based on the proximity to different departments. Lectures can take place in any of our lecture theatres on campus depending on timetabling demands.

Hope this helps,
Sarah.

Hi NuckingFut,

There are three different terms at Lancaster, each of which usually last 10 weeks. Generally lectures run from weeks 1-22 (sometimes the lectures in weeks 21 and 22 are revision sessions) and then it is exam time!

Different types of accommodation have different length lets. The majority of lets run for 40 weeks (so include the Christmas and Easter vacations), but some lets can be as few as 36 weeks, and some can be up to 43 weeks. The best thing to do is visit our accommodation homepage: http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sbs/accommodation/undergraduateaccom.html

All the best,
Sarah.

Hi NuckingFut,

The townhouses are let for 43 weeks.

The price of accomodation varies according to the type of room you have, the age of the accomodation and size of the room.
For standard rooms (those with a washbasin) rent ranges between £78.75 per week to £92.75 per week. Superior standard rooms (which are bigger) cost £96.25 per week.
For townhouses, rent is £96.25 a week plus a fixed utility bill each week of £5.95.
For en-suite accomodation rooms range from £101.85 (for older rooms) to £112.70. Larger en-suite rooms can be had at a cost of £120.40 per week.
For self-contained single studios (in which you have your own bathroom and kitchenette) rent is £134.40 per week. For self-contained twin studios (i.e. 2 people share), rent is £157.50 per week.

Catered accommodation costs £40 extra per week and would provide you with breakfasts and evening meals during term time. All the information about accomodation is on our accomodation homepage though: http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sbs/accommodation/undergraduateaccom.html

Hope this helps,
Sarah.

Hi Naturzen,

This sort of information really depends on where you're from, what sort of qualifications you have or are studying for, and what course you would like to do. From there I can give you more specific advice.

All the best,
Sarah.

Hello there,

Apologies - it looks like we advised you incorrectly when we answered your post back in February. What we should have actually said, is:

Once our application site opens in June we will send an email to all students that have accepted a place on a course, inviting them to create an account, and then apply for college membership and accommodation. As more students accept places through the summer, they will be picked up and emailed in weekly batches.

We endeavour to place every student in one of the two colleges they are asked to choose when they apply, though this is not always possible. We also take into account the type of accommodation you are applying for in deciding which is best for you. Although we ask for your preferences you should be prepared to accept some concessions if we are unable to meet all of your criteria. Please notify us of any special circumstances regarding disabilities, medical conditions and allergies when you apply.

More information can be found here.

Hope that helps!

Many thanks,

Fred

I have an offer for English Literature and Linguistics, and I am most likely firming Lancaster, after visiting and really liking it.

I have a few questions:
I have been offered an academic scholarship if I get A*AA (My predicted grades are AAA). This isn’t means tested is it?
Secondly, how should I decide which college to apply for? I’d like to be in a smaller college with Ensuite accommodation but I’m not sure where to start… :s-smilie:
Do the university have an orchestra? I’ve been a musician since I was 4, so I really would like to be able to continue with this whilst I am at university.
And do you get the opportunity to learn another language or even sign language whilst at the university? I am very interested in learning sign language.
And finally, how long does is take to get to Morecambe?

Sorry for all the questions!
