Hi everyone,

I've just received notification of booking onto an assessment centre for the store management programme in March so I have chosen Thurs 8th March in Manchester Verrry excited, especially with the fact they are putting us up in a very nice hotel with dinner with everyone!

Just wondering if anyone else had similar news so that we can all talk about how we are feeling about it all!

I did my work sample today in Stalybridge, so if I've got through to the assessment centre it'll probably be the Manchester one. I didn't realise they'd be putting us up in a hotel, very nice! I've got my Asda one next week and it's so far away from me I have to stay in a hotel and pay for it myself.

I'm at the Manchester one too! I picked the Tuesday though but looking forward to it, from reading previous threads it looks like we're the 1st year to stay at a hotel. Anyone else internal applicants through tesco?

I also had my sample day today-hope it went well. Didn't realise they have assessment centres in more than one location? Did you get a choice of a couple of dates?

Lady looking after us today said it shouldn't take long to hear!

We had a choice of dates for Week starting 5/3 & 12/3 in 3 locations; Manchester, London or Birmingham.

I'm internal through Tesco! Lets hope we have a chance ey! How long u worked there for? I'm 6 years now ! Bring it all on I say.

Hey folks!

I just signed upto the student room after googling tesco assessment centre! I'm through too And I'm also going to be at Manchester on 8th March! I haven't worked for Tesco before, hopefully that doesn't go against me!

I'm too wondering what to expect. I've heard previous years, it's involved an interview, roleplay, group exercise and intray exercise. I'm wondering what the interview will be like!

And more importantly what are you planning to wear lol?! I was thinking maybe suit dress for the dinner/presentation and trouser suit for the next day.

Ahhh it's exciting but scary!

hey all.

assessment centre expectations wise, I think it follows those lines of interview (most definitely competency based), group exercises - often discussions or working together to solve an issue. I have had assessment centres that involve small presentations also. and then the in tray i suppose. although i have heard they might not be doing that this year but I think I will come prepared just in case!

train is all booked so just need to wait now! in regards to what to wear I am just treating both sections like an interview like they say on the email. takes the stress out of worrying about whether it will be right or not!

you know it says arrive and meet the team at 6pm, what time are people getting there to check into their rooms?

I got my invite today Will be going to Manchester but I'm not sure which date to choose yet.

My train gets into manchester around half 3, so after a quick coffee with the boyfriend I am just going to head straight there to get checked in and relax.

Want to be in my room settled by 5pm latest I reckon, and its a big hotel so could take a while to get checked in etc!

I live in Manchester so It won't be so bad for me I guess.. Think I'll do the same tho! need to get two outfits too!!

most hotels it is 2pm/3pm. just give them a call.

yeah, I used to live in manchester for a few years, but now based in Edinburgh so it isn't too bad.
finding it odd though as I am down manchester a lot as my boyfriend moved this year to start his PhD! will be odd being in manchester and not staying with him!

dont think it will be as scary as we think it will be!

think of it as a chance to show them who you are and why they should hire you. I know all assessment centres say 'we arent here to trick you' but i really don't think they are!
