CS - Surrey vs Sussex

Hi there,

I have recieved offers for both of these but i don't know which to firm. Surrey has higher entrance requirements but Sussex is ranked highly in league tables. Surrey also has a placement year but Sussex has good graduate schemes. If anyone could give me their opinions it would be great, thanks.

Both very great universities. Though I might be biased but I love Surrey Uni since it's located in Guildford which is a very town, no chav's, extremely green and less than an hour away from London so it's pretty much my perfect town, Plus the Campus is very beautiful.

As for Sussex Uni it's by Brighton so if you enjoy a beach location I would suggest Sussex.

It's hard to say really, it really won't make a difference which one you pick since they are both very good universities just pick the one you're happier with I guess.

In my opinion though I would pick Surrey since sure it may have higher entrance requirements but it has a placement year and is located in such a nice area.

So I would firm Surrey and make Sussex and insurance in my opinion, both great universities for Computer Science.

I'll try and not be biased, as i'm a Sussex man myself

In terms of overall prestige they're both solid universities (both 1994 members so thus good research standards) however i'd say Sussex is a tad more prestigious overall.

For Computer Science they're pretty equal again, though Surrey is a place or two higher in league tables so I guess it's a little better.

For student life i'd say Sussex would be best - repeatedly Brighton has been voted as the best student city, however it is expensive, so if you don't want too much debt Surrey would work out better.

For employment, Surrey would be best. Sussex does have good graduate schemes, but Surrey boast the best employability of any UK university (which really is impressive).

Tough decision all round to be honest!

Thanks again for the detailed response ifstatement. Yea the placement year is pretty important by the sounds of it =| I'm decided on my insurance, Kent, i'm just chosing a firm. I guess you're right that they are both good. I think the placement year at surrey is well supported but i think I can take one at sussex if I want to..problem is that i'll lose my peer group. Ah it's a hard one  thanks for your opinion though!
