Re: Postgraduate Decisions Thread 2012
Hi guys - also going for an LLM (or BCL) before hopefully starting a PhD. I have a tricky decision to make, so any advice is very much appreciated

I have an Australian BA(Hons) (in English) and LLB(Hons). Applied to 5 unis (3 UK and 2 Canadian).
I've wanted to go to Cambridge for a really long time, but most of its appeal is due to touristy 'it's pretty' things, and prestige. That said, it would be an amazing year and I'm sure I'd learn a lot. Toronto has great courses for my particular area of law (Cambridge has none directly relevant) and I'd like to do my PhD/SJD in Canada. It also looks like a great place to live. Can't quite give up on the Cambridge dream, but think the wise decision is to go to Toronto. Realise this isn't quite the thread for advice (sorry!), but if anyone has any, please, please share
University: University of Toronto
Course: LLM
Date Application sent: 16 Jan (last reference sent 20 Jan)
Date Decision received: 18 Jan
Decision: Unconditional offer + partial funding
Offer conditions: None
Your reaction: Really, really excited
University: Cambridge
Course: LLM
Date Application sent: 2 December
Date Decision received: 13 Feb
Decision: Conditional other
Offer conditions: Standard financial/college
Your reaction: Really, really excited, and now unsure what to do about Toronto
University: University College London
Course: LLM
Date Application sent: 20 Jan
Date Decision received: 8 March
Decision: Unconditional offer
Offer conditions: None
Your reaction: It's nice to be accepted, but I will decline in favour of UoT/Cambridge
University: Oxford
Course: BCL
Date Application sent: 20 Jan
Date Decision received: NA
Decision: NA
Offer conditions: NA
Your reaction: Still waiting, but should hear on Friday. Not sure it will change anything, though
University: Osgoode Hall, York University (Canada)
Course: LLM
Date Application sent: 25 Jan
Date Decision received: NA
Decision: NA
Offer conditions: NA
Your reaction: Still waiting, outcome doesn't really bother me at the moment.
