Re: A2 (Edexcel) Physics Unit 4 & 5 6PH08 June 2012my value of T was 193.2k coz i drew a straight line...not a CURVE...it clearly stated BEST FIT LINE..even though most of the people drew a curve.....(Original post by saadmansakib)
Overall easy paper. I took a beaker full of water and dipped the diode in it and labelled it! You don't have to worry about, how diode is an electrical component and may not work well under water! It was a ditto of NTC thermistor!
K uncertainity - 8.4%
V uncertainity - 3.9%
Value of K - 6.17
Theory not supported, since percentage difference in K (37.1%) relating to the given g=9.81 was greater than percentage uncertainity in K.
I am just confused about the value of the Temperature of the asteroid (Weinn'z Law Question)
Help me out by suggesting your answers for T -
Re: A2 (Edexcel) Physics Unit 4 & 5 6PH08 June 2012
My value for T was 193.5...
Most of the people who knew the shape of the curve, even they drew a straight line! The curve was clearly given in Hodder Physics A2 textbook!
Best fit line doesn't always have to be a straight line!
Anyways, I found out the range of T since you have to estimate it! I tried extrapolation! But the same result comes
So my guess would be anything around 200 is fine! Some people had answers 200-210K. So anything around 200 is fine! -
Re: A2 (Edexcel) Physics Unit 4 & 5 6PH08 June 2012I took the wavelength to be 12.2 x 10^-6m and got temperature around 238K .(Original post by saadmansakib)

Didn't the highest cross fall in the middle of 10-15 range? Or did you peak your curve to the maximum possible intensity? -

Well i would say people who drew the curve had temp around 230-240k...but people who drew srtaight line had answer around 190-200k.....but bro iz it really possibly logical enough to say BEST FIT LINE can actually be CURVE....well people who drew the curve had good logic bcoz acc to theory it had to be curve but ALAS the question said LINE..... -
Re: A2 (Edexcel) Physics Unit 4 & 5 6PH08 June 2012
As I posted earlier, I extrapolated, and found out the answer, which was 198K, anything around 200 is perfectly fine!
Wavelengthmax= 15x10^-6m
The graph will be a curve not doubt about that! And for every question like gradient from graph, which we have to estimate, has always a range to the answers. If you fall in that range, you will get full marks. This question was something like that, answers will vary person to person depending on their estimation.
Here the answer of T depended on the wavelength. And if you estimated anything between (15 to 16.5) x 10^-6m you are safe! -

These are the experiments you need to know. Most of the experiments are in the Hodder A2 Physics Textbook. In this book, there is also a section named A guide to practical work, that section has mostly everything regarding uncertainties.
And also, you are required to have knowledge of AS. Try to solve May 2012 6B paper, you will come across two questions from your AS physics! Question paper pattern is changing! -
Is that for coursework? I went through the spec yesterday and didn't see anything about knowing practicals for the written papers(Original post by saadmansakib)

I've already finished the coursework just want to knw whether I should learn all practicals for the written exams
