Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 Thread
GUYS I have a question about UMS -
so this paper is out of 80 but it still has UMS out of 100 yes? So does that mean that it works like this - 100/80 = 1.25. Therefore 1 mark = 1.25 UMS...? Is that true? So say I needed 32 UMS, that means I need 27 (26.5) actual marks?
Sorry this isn't really the thread for this question but I have nowhere else to ask it and it is related to this paper :P -

Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 ThreadIt doesn't work like that unfortunately. However, you won't be that far off. Grade boundaries are used, and depending on how the country does as whole will depend on how many raw marks you need for certain UMS conversions. For example if the whole country found the paper really tough, the grade boundaries would be lower, if most people found it easy however, they would be higher.(Original post by seventwoseven)

This meaning that on a hard paper you might only need 20 raw marks for 32 UMS, and on an easy paper you might need 30 raw marks for 32 UMS.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 ThreadOh right, okay thank you. That is unfortunate but lucky enough I only need 3 UMS marks actually lol, so I'm guessing whatever it ends up as I'll be okay.(Original post by WaNaBe)

Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 ThreadWhat key topics do you think we should revise for the section B of the paper?(Original post by Jim Riley)
The BUSS4 exam takes place in the morning on Thursday 21 June 2012.
We've created two dedicated blog channels to support students researching and preparing for BUSS4:
Section A resources & support: (Takeovers & Mergers)
BUSS4 general (articles, advice on exam technique etc)
Details of the section A research task can be found here.
I'm happy to help out with any questions or advice that you might have as you plan and undertake your revision for BUSS4. Please use this thread.
Jim
Also do we need to know specific info about a company we have been researching?
PLEASE HELP -
Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 ThreadHere are up to date UMS/raw conversion marks. It is not always 1.25, if ever.

Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 Thread
Hey getting SO confused with this whole UMS thing...
Basically I really want an A, I got 66/80 in Unit One
99/120 in Unit Two
Am retaking unit 3 as I did not do so well but what should be the minimum grade I should be aiming for in BOTH unit three and four in order to get an A?
Would be very much appreciated!!! -
Re: AQA Business Studies BUSS4 2012 - 21 June 2012 ThreadYou have 165/200 for AS. That's a solid A. You need 155/200 for an A overall from your unit 3 and unit 4. So thats around a high B on both.(Original post by Camilla321)
