    What happens after exam period?
Last day of my exams is 21 May, but term ends 22 June. What goes on for the month after? Do I have to stay, etc?

You get to have fun lectures and there's a sports day near the end which includes the parent-lecturer race.

I was literally about to ask this question. I've heard that you have to be here for the last few days of term in order to register for the next year or something? But between the end of exams and then, is there much else to do, do you have to stay in Durham etc...?

Last year in my college pretty much everyone stayed, I think its the best time of the whole year tbh. The bars are busy, the sun can come out and the general mood and atmosphere is good.
Its quite strange actually because the whole year goes so fast and youve worked all year just for those handful of exams which have no real consequences, its a bit hollow thats for sure.
Edit - You will have to be around for the last week or so to register your module choices for the following year, some students can do this online actually and I didnt even have a choice, it was done for me automatically so I couldve gone home after my last exam. You can go home and come back for the day for module registration if you really wanted to, although if you have accommodation youre kinda paying for it even if you arent there.

Various clubs and societies go off on trips during this time, once all exams are finished, e.g. Scout and Guide Group, Canoeists, some choirs and so on.

You don't have to stay in Durham, lots of people go and do a week or two of work experience, or go on a cheap holiday, etc. Most people tend to be in Durham for at least a couple of weeks though, just to relax - people don't tend to do many social events before exams, so it's a good time to catch up on nights out, birthday parties for people whose birthdays were during exams, trips to the beach, visits to Newcastle, etc.

However there will be things happening - lots of sports events, fun college events, college balls, etc. Some students have to be here for academic work (mainly 2nd year scientists who have to do a week or 2 of lab work in preparation for their dissertation).
