    ermmmmm
exchange rate possible due to china being fixed and fig 2.2
unlinkely things to come up - globalisation
wat do u think will come up on the 20marker im struglling to see what will come up
I've been looking through past papers for this unit and I've noticed a trend, the essay question, every sitting so far, has been based on the last extract. In our pre-release that is protectionism so I'm going to focus a lot of my essays on that.

Can some please I am begging give me a list of thing they are revising because I have done zero revision for this unit so far. Because I have zero idea what to revise.

My school will not buy the tutur2u pack and I cant afford it. I finished the whole of transport. But really need to start this since we got like 7 and a half weeks left?

I am struggling badly and whats even bad is my teacher never turns up and she her self does not know what is the jey things to revise.

    Please. Thanks
well I started off by learning everything on the spec then made notes etc but now i am using the extracts i.e our teachers are going through them and giving us possible questions that could come up. what I am going to revise though is the things i see in the extracts so inflation, interest rates, protectionism, economic growth, sustainability and so on. I know all the basic trade stuff and global stuff due to my initial note taking of the whole unit so if these things came up I could still answer a question on them.

I want an A too, but am retaking unit 3 to take the pressure off this exam. Want to get about 85 in that, so would need only 73 to get an A in this. well that's the plan anyway lol.

Well, some of the revision tips that my teacher has given us, are phonetics of all the lists that you have to learn this unit. e.g.
for protectionism, she told us BURPSID
    E.G.
    correct BALANCE OF PAYMENTS
    reduced UNEMPLOYMENT
    RETALIATION
    POLITICAL REASON
    protect STRATEGIC INDUSTRIES
    protect INFANT INDUSTRIES
    prevent DUMPING of goods

Just make it easy to remember, otherwise you'll get confused

    There is an online revision clinic for F585 over at tutor2u this evening which might help answer some of your questions about this unit;

Please be careful when advising other members what is unlikely to come up. There is no reason why a question on development cannot come up, or other topics which don't seem to quite fit with the stimulus material.

I am happy to see speculation of what may come up, but I would prefer not to see any discussion of what won't come up, as this can be very damaging to some students' revision.

Anyone want to tackle this Q: To what extent do the benefits of high inflation in China outweigh the costs?

Wondering if anyone can explain this section of the pre-release (extract 2) to me please?
"China's economy is unbalanced. Although investment is high, savings are higher still. The result is an economy driven by external rather than domestic deman, resulting in a large current account surplus."
I don't understand why excess savings leads to a large current account surplus. Is it because it means consumption is low so growth must be export-led? Or is it something to do with the excess savings being invested abroad and the returns on those savings benefitting the current account?
    Thanks for any help

How are you guys revising for this exam?

With all the previous ones I would go through the Syllabus and make sure thatI have learnt everything that can possibly be tested.
But with this exam we have just been going through the case study in class talking about possible questions etc.

I kinda want to revise/learn everything in the syllabus to be safe but is this a waste of time?

Hmm.. My teacher thinks that there is a high possibility that a question comes up about the operation of fiscal and monetary policy, and the effect it might have, and the 20marks she thinks would be topic not covered by the case study: globalisation. What are your thoughts?

Can't be on a topic not in the case study. Possibly protectionism (extract 4) or something comparing UK and Chinese economy, or inflation. Those are the things I am really going to focus essays questions but will do others too.
