Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship SchemeIn the interest of fairness I can't give too much away but since other people have already said the technical thing is putting together a power steering pump, which sounds scary if you have no mechanical background (like me) but it was really easy the assesor was more interested in the way you worked out how to do it and things about it's design and how to make it better,(Original post by sambaynham)
How do you feel you got on? What did the day consist of? Any advice you would give? Sorry for all the questions just anxious to know what the day is like
There was an interview which if you look at the information sent to you will help you out.
and a teamwork exercise where you have to solve a problem in a group, they're looking for leadership and teamwork skills.
Good luck
As for me It sort of went three ways
the team work went really well, the interview went a bit meh and the technical bit I couldn't tell because the guy only spoke to ask questions about the stuff and didn't really give much away
good luck
what dates yours I thought I was the last group ? -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
How long was the interview? and were the questions pretty basic, like what you would expect, 'name a time you had to meet a deadline', etc, or would some of them catch out a nervous by nature person such as myself. I can just see myself shaking and start mumbling half way through :|
also was the problem like, paper based/ word based, or was it like an actual physical puzzle?
It cant be the last group because mine isnt until next week, although I did apply pretty late. I havent done an english test for some reason either, apparently there wasnt enough time on the date I did my maths test.
edit: did they ask you anything about the "high performance behaviours" also?Last edited by travispickle; 19-07-2012 at 12:06. -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
Remember there are two types of apprenticeship, the higher is the one with the power steering pump, don't know if the assessment centre for the advanced is the same.
Did my assessment centre in bootle, was told we would get an email in a week to a week and a half if we were unsuccessful and receive a contract in the post in 2 to 3 weeks if we were in, its been 2 weeks so i am in between, so anxious, can't help but think they have just forgotten to email me!Last edited by Ash1512; 19-07-2012 at 23:13. -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
I did mine for halewood on the 5th, not heard anything as yet, like i said in the post above they said we would find out if we were unsuccessful in a week to a week and a half and its been two and half weeks now. I'm hoping that if they were taking more time to decide they would contact us rather than leaving us on edge and sat hammering f5 on our email accounts for weeks!

Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
yeah its been 3 weeks for me now, and i also thought they said that you would receive an email 'very soon' if your unsuccessful.. i just don't know whether they meant after everyone has been interviewed or from the date you was interviewed.
@brooks2808 - are you having yours tomorrow for the Halewood site? -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
No, the person who spoke to us said there was 24 left for 6 places on the higher apprenticeship at Halewood, two groups of 12 on the 3rd and 5th of july. Mine was the last group for this particular apprenticeship.
Maybe we have both been accepted, dare to dream eh!!! -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
I had my interview for the advanced on the 4th of July. We were also told we'd hear within a week if we were unsuccessful but they said no news is good news. The waiting is horrendous i hate it. I also had a psychometric test for the Goodrich apprenticeship too so at least I have a plan B :P

Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship SchemeYes that was what I was thinking, but then if you got an email telling you that you were unsuccessful would you still be scouring the JLR forum...?(Original post by CrypticG)
It would be ideal if someone who has heard would post on here haha, shed some light on the uncertainty!
Email in a week and a half or a contract within 3 weeks, which is this Thursday for me so will send an email on thursday if still no news! -
Re: Jaguar/Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme
Yeah it would be helpful if someone could say they'd been unsuccessful but if it was me I wouldn't want to talk about it haha. They said there was 4300 initial applicants for the advanced scheme, with 48 making it through to the final assessment for 20 jobs, so we done well to get that far i suppose. No consolation if we don't get it though.
