No, because subsequent legislation (where Doncaster is acknowledged to be in England) legally overrides it.

    Woooo! I'm Scottish!

In all fairness though, I highly doubt anyone in Scotland wants anything to do with our Donny ;D

I don't want to be scottish though

Oh, and why did they pick the worst picture they could find of Doncaster? Rail maintenance yard and the Hexthorpe flats?
It's because that's an image which best sums up Doncaster, unfortunately

They could have picked a more pleasant picture, though - maybe St Georges Minster or the racecourse. Even the interchange would be preferable

Depressing. Maybe they picked it because they thought it would fit in with our typical image of Scotland? The towers are being painted now though, I noticed on my way to school this morning So they won't be able to use them to make us look bad.

So does this mean that any thing north of that is part of Scotland, so I get all the perks that the Scottish get?

There's loads of random old laws that are still about, don't know how many you could actually pull off. That one about shooting a scotsman with a bow and arrow I read in the York dungeons. There's another one where a pregnant woman can request to urinate in a police officers hat if there are no toilets about.
    Brilliant!

Apparently there's a law that says it's illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament :p:.

    This is true.

It's because in the 17th century, if you died in the houses of parliament you were awarded a state funeral, so there was cases where commoners died and the politicians didn't want to spend money on a funeral, so they'd drag them outside.

So because of this it became illegal

I didn't know the story behind it; that's brilliant . It's a good job the gunpowder plot wasn't successful!

It certainly fits the bill - high undemployment, low economic activity, extensive poverty, low property prices, high dependence on benefits and other government hand-outs and a very low tax take.

How depressing that Doncaster is called the "birthplace of Clarkson".

To be even more pedantic, the ancient English kingdom of Northumbria used to end just south of where Edinburgh is now. I notice no-ones making a fuss over that.

Anyway, can anyone tell that the Mayor of Doncaster is trolling as he's an English Democrat?

I think pregnant women still can! Although I haven't heard of it happening . . .

But yeah there are tonnes of out dated laws that are silly or don't apply to anyone anymore. Sometihng stoopid like it being illegal to walk your sheep down the high-street on a sunday if they have lambs with them. Just :lolwut: nobody tries to do that anymore anyway . . . btw I don't think that is a law but I think I remember hearing something just as stoopid before..
