DSA - Irish Passport - Qualify????
Im confused, I applied for DSA and am waiting to hear back...... looking at the guidelines again I see it says that EU students do not qualify for DSA.....
I came to the UK from Ireland when I was 6 years old - all of my schooling and life has been in the UK (havent even been back to Ireland to visit for over 10 years - Im now 35), I have an Irish Passport so am technically an EU citizen - does this mean I wont be entitled to DSA?

Re: DSA - Irish Passport - Qualify????As far as Student Finance goes It is based on residence rather than citizenship. If you have been resident on the United Kingdom (or Isle of Man or Channel Islands) for three years prior to the start of your case then you might be eligible. Similarly, a British person won't be eligible if they have not been resident for three years regardless of their passport and citizenship. So residence is they key though, even then, a person not resident for the three years might be eligible under certain circumstances.(Original post by KED)

The rules can be complicated so it is best to check with your funding body. I am not aware of DSA being different to the rest of finance but I am no expert. -
Re: DSA - Irish Passport - Qualify????Thank you, I have had Student Finance confirm my loan/grant - I was worried that in the DSA guidance it doesnt mention anything about 'residence' just 'eu student' - and that I havent heard anything back from my DSA application even though I sent them at the same time.(Original post by River85)
