We have reason to be arrogant. England has done a lot more for the world than your average state. As for morals, we are in the Western club. You can wallow in your self-hating white guilt all you want, but England is no basket case like the majority of the world.

I know thats a troll reply but its funny as it shows the English mentality that everyone else has the problem and its not them.

Btw my parents in Scotland get their "local" news from Newcastle and have to watch reports on South Yorkshire news events but lucky to get 30 seconds a day Scottish news, that is hardly having a chip on their shoulder its the English not caring about the Scots!

i wasnt trolling it just sounded arrogant- but no surprise. I love scotland i have family there too but i am just about fed up with being bombarded with 'everythings better in Scotland ohh aye' , 'cant get good whiskey in england' or 'ever heard of Alexander Graham bell he inveted the telephone you know' (all in accent) . I dont walk around claiming the english invented the world wide web, radar or jet engines, it would be tiresome .

And the Northern Irish well.... thats obvious there are totally ungrateful.

Not you again...

Seriously you hate this country a lot. All your threads are about how everywhere else is so much better than here and how everyone here is ****.

So yeah basically... sling it!

Please pick either English or British, the two are NOT the same. The English believe that Britain and the UK means them. However, more intelligent and knowledgeable people living in Wales, Scotland and N Ireland use the words in their correct place and when saying one DO NOT mean any of the others.

Well, there's the drinking culture, the football hooliganism, highly embarrassing British tourists abroad and ignorance concerning foreign languages.

But apart from all that, no

English does not equal British!!!

I moved from Ameria to England and then to Wales. I can witness to the fact that at least compared to Americans I have been around all my life, British people seem to be very rude and arrogant.

And also very immoral, like as in you have to have everything tied down so people won't steal it here. A bunch of thieves! And loud-mouths.

I am just being honest. I finally figured it out. It is mostly a Godless Society, so that explains it. They even have Charles Darwin on one of their Money Notes.

Very unfriendly, as compared to Americans. Unless they want something from you, then that's different. Suddenly they are your "Best Friend" at least till they get done using you.

Quality! What rubbish! I too have lived in all 3 of those places and found the Americans to be the rude ones. Crazy gun laws, loud and obnoxious and God fearing peoples.

How does "God fearing" make someone rude?
No, but we are particularly good at loathing ourselves. Particularly TSR members who only know the history of the United Kingdom as far as it relates to the nature of the 'evil white man', or 'oppressed women.'

Ours is one of the greatest, richest and most tolerant nations on earth, but to say such a thing will have you dragged down, pilloried and lynched by the vocal minority who are intent on exploiting every negative social narrative they can get their hands on to enforce self-loathing within the population.

Compare the United Kingdom with any other nation on earth and you have a beacon of light and civility, one which refuses to tolerate racism, one which extends political franchise and equality to all individuals, one which refuses to allow people to suffer on the street if they can't afford medical care, one which looks after its elderly with public funds, one which adheres to a principle that every citizen is subject to the same rule of law. Ours is the greatest nation on Earth.

The British aren't immoral - after 5 decades of state-sponsored self-loathing, the British just hate themselves. We have the ranks of the perpetually offended and the subscribers to the religion of feelings to thank for that.

Is England disliking the other home nations self hate or racism? Serious question because you do get people in Scotland Wales and Ireland hating English regardless of if its because they themselves or racist or been given racist comments from the English.

Personal experience is people get a bit too obsessed with the wrong things like England since its bigger and most business is centered in London makes the most money so they go on about propping up the other home nations(or in self hate ways the North of England) which in turn makes people dislike the English which then the English see themselves as the victim so then say more racist things.

A bit of a chicken and a egg thing.

You need to understand how politics works. I don't mean that to sound condescending, however I get the impression you believe it has something to do with policy? Modern politics has NOTHING to do with policy, at least for a great number of people.

Politics is about one thing and one thing alone: identity. It's about dividing people up into component groups and pitting them off against each other to accrue votes.

'Don't vote for him, he's a misogynist.'
'Vote for him, he represents diversity.'
'Vote for me, I represent all women.'
'I'm a gay man, what will you do for me?'
'I'm Scottish, I'm not sure how that makes me distinct from the rest of the population however I'm going to vote for someone who speaks and acts like I do.'

When those who express contrary views which could be described as rational - ie, to the benefit of all, or the majority, rather than component groups, ie, women, LGBT, Scotland, minority groups, etc.' - they get berated under a tidal wave of 'racism', 'xenophobia', 'sexism', 'white privilege', 'Nazism', 'fascism', etc.

All of it, every last segment of it, is narrative control, moral relativism - what applies to one group doesn't apply to the rest - and identity politics.

Take Scotland as an example. Do you know Scots oppose mass immigration to the same extent English people do? Do you know Scots and English broadly agree on tuition fees (both want them, other than for a small minority of people capable of paying for them)? Do you know Scotland is, according to the British Social Attitudes Survey, the most authoritative opinion poll in the country, a very conservative society?

It doesn't matter though. While Scots are FAR more likely to identify as as socialist, they are anything but. Identity trumps rational and logical though in today's modern political process. It's not about what you say, it's about who you are.

Don't give me replies about generalisations and everyone's an individual, I'm not talking about innate traits, I believe there can be moral differences between nations. So, are we an immoral people nowadays, relatively speaking, and are we arrogant? Because you could find plenty of people from the 'new world', not to mention Scotland and Ireland, who hold that view.

Yea and it will be your down fall same with america

What a bizarre task.

"Tell me whether you think the English are an immoral/arrogant without generalizing"

Well, the English are Brits aren't they? They represent the majority of Brits.
I don't think British people are the best looking, have the most beautiful sounding language or the best food, but people in this country are actually really nice. I mean this is the first country to introduce a national health service, free at the point of use, so the people in general must feel a sense of collective responsibility for their fellow humans.
