Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Myanmar regrets these actions and feels that they are signs of potential aggression within an already unstable area. We wish for a peaceful solution to be reached as swiftly as possible and intend to contact the Chinese authorities to offer our reassurances. While Myanmar is not too concerned at the present, we intend to keep our naval forces on high alert to react to signs of an escalation of the situation within the region.

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
As a country dedicated to upholding international peace, the Kingdom of Denmark condemns the actions taken by the Republic of China's government in seeking to arm yet further, we believe that this will provoke greater tension in the straits that could foreseeably lead to yet another crisis. We ask that the People's Republic of China be measured and diplomatic in their response to the new developments, as Western nations do not want to be forced into favouring one side over another in the almost 70-year long civil war.

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Hungary is ambivalent on the matter whilst one respects the need to maintain peace between the PRC and Taiwan one also respects a nations need to keep up to date in defensive measures and given the Taiwanese position this should be safe guarded as it should for all nations.

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Peoples Republic of China is deeply concerned with this state of events and is condemning it fully. We hope that we can work out peaceful situation, but we also say to Republic of China that military action is not forgotten. As we speak our highest military chiefs are devising defensive plan for this new threat, and our leader has ordered our navy in the East China sea to go to standby, we will not leave our ports aside from regular patrols, but our level of responsiveness is higher from this moment. We are threaten by this because these missals can hit our cities and make big damage and loss in human lives and in valuable resources. But as we promised we will try to resolve our differences peacefully, thus we are looking forward into official explanation of this act, and we will hear their claims. Although we do not accept RoC as a country, we are ready to hear their representative in this chamber and their clams, but we do not promisse anything. China is holding their ground on a fact that we do poses historical authority over RoC and as such these acts can only be stated as acts of militarization to threaten Chinese state and people. Also we are going to make request with the world bank to think about possible sanctions towards RoC if they are persistant in their claims to develop these weapons. Also we are asking our Allies in the Russian Federation to help us with this threat. Also we are ready to sit down and talk with other nations that are ready to stop this threat.

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile testsMyanmar will aim to support its long standing ally should ROC become a bigger threat. We will happily engage in talks with China. Myanmar also proposes that we mediate in talks between the two sides if that is what both sides wish.(Original post by terza021)

We hope that we can work out peaceful situation, but we also say to Republic of China that military action is not forgotten. As we speak our highest military chiefs are devising defensive plan for this new threat, and our leader has ordered our navy in the South China sea to go to standby, we will not leave our ports aside from regular patrols, but our level of responsiveness is higher from this moment. We are threaten by this because these missals can hit our cities and make big damage and loss in human lives and in valuable resources. But as we promised we will try to resolve our differences peacefully, thus our ambassador to the Republic of China in Taipei is instructed to meet with the highest officials to try to find the cause for this offense made to the Peoples Republic of China. Also we are going to make request with the world bank to think about possible sanctions towards RoC if they are persistant in their claims to develop these weapons. Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile testsChina is happy to see that we have one of our allies ready to help us in preventing this from escalating, peace talks are not close right now but we will have Myanmar in mind when planning one.(Original post by toronto353)

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests(OOC: The PRC does not have a formal diplomatic delegation in Taiwan, they don't recognise that Taiwan is a separate country! Thus, no ambassador.)(Original post by terza021)

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Tunisia wishes to propose negotiation between the sides, and a peaceful coexistance, and regrets its poor military state due to which it will be little help if a force is required. It will instead endeavour to assess whether this is a threat to the arab league and will bring it up after the re arranged vote regarding syria/

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile testsRepublic of China can enjoy protection of PRC for howlong they wish. And thus there is no need to uptade their defence, since we are one of the most sofisticated military countres in world.(Original post by ForensicShoe)
Jamaica encourages both sides to adopt a diplomatic stance on the matter.
However, we do agree with Hungary that Taiwan should be entitled to update it's defensive capabilities. -

Mexico calls for both sides to pursue a diplomatic dialogue. -
Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Ukraine thinks that this is an unwarranted provocation, in that the ROC will probably need a lot more than missiles to repel a true military assault, however unlikely. The Ukraine supports China in its longstanding policy of peaceful integration.
We wonder if a foreign hand is artificially creating tension in the region for their own ends. -
Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Vietnam will be monitoring this situation closely and urges both sides to settle this dispute diplomatically. The last thing the people of Vietnam want is for conflict to break out on our doorstep, so to speak. Vietnam is critical of the timing of these missile tests, especially with the ongoing tensions over the Spratly Islands.

Re: MUN Hypothetical 2012/1 - Taiwanese missile tests
Luxembourg calls for immediate disarmament of missiles in the region and calls for talks and negotiations to be help as soon as possible. Luxembourg will be happy to provide a neutral setting for diplomats from both countries and looks forward to a peaceful resolution to the matter
