If I reinstall iTunes, will I lose my music?
I've been getting iTunes error 1202 for months now and I've tried everything I can except reinstalling iTunes. I know the files will still be on my computer, but if I reinstall it, would they still be on iTunes with my play counts and playlists? Because I really don't want to lose everything and have to put them all back on.

If the iTunes folder and its contents are not deleted then you should still have your play counts and playlists when you reinstall. The iTunes folder is in the music folder if you want to make a backup just in case.

Great, thanks. Still a bit scared to do it though!

Just backup the Itunes music folder before you do it if you're worried. Right click the folder and click copy. Then right click in another window/desktop or whatever and click paste.

There are 2 files in the iTunes folder that hold your information for playlists & other stuff:

    iTunes Library.itl
    Itunes Music Library.xml

I'm on a MAC, so might be slightly different extensions on a Windows computer...

at the end of the day if you lose your play count its not that bad, so long as you have your music.

After you've reinstalled iTunes, the first time you start it, hold shift and it will ask you if you want to find an existing iTunes library and just find the iTunes Library.itl file
