Yeah, you can never really tell with critical thinking whether your waffling abilities have just gone too far or not. I spent almost an hour on the last credibility question, purely because the rest of the paper didn't take that much time. I also had a two and a half hour french exam today which went fairly well, so overall, a good day. What other as levels are you doing?
    Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Regret taking Biology, was originally planning to go into Medicine but changed my mind this year, so probably going to drop Biology and take up Further Maths next year. How about yourself?

Hi! It's been ages since I've been on here, but whatever... Since I have no idea what I'm doing, can someone please add me to the wiki page for Maths & Philosophy, Merton college? Thanks!

Ah, I see- my options are completely different; French, Maths, English Literature, History and Critical Thinking. The biology department at my sixth form is awful- in fact the majority of the science department isn't really that great. In January modules I think about 15 people got a U or an E.

Hi I'm a current offer-holder for maths at Merton, so if you have any questions on the admissions process feel free to ask me.

Hi! I'm thinking about applying for physics at Merton (or maybe University College, I'm not sure) so I was just wondering if you could tell what made you apply to Merton above the other colleges?

Well, being a geeky sort of person I started off by making a chart of all the colleges with factors like rent, size of college (I wanted small-medium), how many years you could live in, and prettiness, and ranked them. I barely remember doing this, but I found the chart the other day so it must have happened.

Having then got a top two or three, I browsed the websites quite a bit and generally liked Merton's (this bit wasn't nearly as rational as the previous bit). When I went to visit Oxford for the first time, a bit more than a year ago, I visited a fair few colleges and again generally liked Merton.

The real falling in love bit came when I stayed overnight at the open day. Anyone who lives a reasonable distance away from Oxford can do this (for free) and I'd really recommend it - you get all the fun of chatting to new people without the stress of the interview period. It was beautiful, all the people I met were lovely, the maths tutor I talked to seemed lovely (albeit insane), any worries of it being "too academic" were rubbished by the current students.

Most of the research I did was daydreaming and avoiding doing things I actually needed to do, rather than being actually necessary. If you've got it down to two the best thing to do is probably just visit them both, if that's feasible for you.

Hello! Newbie here who's been lurking on this very helpful site for a while.

I was thinking about applying for PPE at Oxford - not so sure about my chances now as I've got a feeling that I've epically missed quite a few of my AS predictions. I'm not keen on adding myself to the wiki until I see the results, tbh. So I booked a place for the open day on June 28th at Balliol a couple of weeks ago, and it came up with something like 'We'll contact you about the programme closer to the time'. Does anyone know when I should expect a reply?

    Thanks in advance!

Would anyone mind as to kindly add me to the Stalking Page? I've been battling with the Oxford and Durham page to no avail!

    Hi!
I´m probably going to Oxford because of the famous open days.. A friend of mine is going with me, but I´m interested in chemistry and she´s into medicine. So I´m looking for somebody who would like to spend a few hours with me. . It would really help me since I don´t live in UK (I´m from Czech Rep) and British English sounds like mumbling for me (plus - as you can see - I really need to improve my E., so a day spent with somebody E-speaking would help me a lot) .
    Thanks, Dominik.

I went up to a Balliol specific open day in September, and absolutely loved it! I'm sure you'll have a great time. I was going to go again, but my school have organised a minibus to take a load of us up to the general open day.

I received an email with the programme of events around a month or so before the open day itself; it's really helpful, and if you get stuck there, all the students are really welcoming and more than happy to answer any questions.

    Enjoy yourself!

    >Today is 28th of May

    So...programme now, pl0x?

But in all seriousness, that's really helpful to know. I'm really looking forward to it (especially the free lunch ) and hope I meet some nice people to chat with.

    Thank you!

It's so strange to see this thread; it feels like not long ago the 2012 one began... time goes so quickly during the application period!

Anyway, good luck to everyone here
