August 18th? Isn't results day normally a Thursday?
Not sure I think it was the 18th last year, and I'm 90% sure I've seen people saying it is the 18th...

    Have you finished yours?

Mm, but this year is a leap year, so I think it may be the 16th. It doesn't matter too much, I think I'd miss both dates as I'm on holiday anyway.

No I finish on June 22nd  I've done 4/8 of my exams so far.

Actually looking at my calendar you're probably right, Saturday would be a little unorthodox. Ah I had 9 in 15 days, so glad it's all over for now, good luck :-) . Are you doing some A2 modules then?

You've reminded me I want to go on holiday, been longing for ages to go to Delphi.

9 in 15? wow, it's quite annoying when exams cluster up like that. I often struggle to get enough sleep when that's happening.

My exams should be all right, but thank you anyway

It was only really annoying when I had two exams two days in a row....

I have recently been through a total of 14 hours of exams in 5 days, the week before I had 2 exams back to back totaling 4 hours sat in the exam room.

That has cheered me up a bit, but I heard that the examinations are only 3 hours long at a time.
But still it is very unpleasant to sit in a 4 hour exam sitting in a stuffy 2mx2m room (the room has cheap sofas and rugs) and reach 3 hours with hunger starting to set in and the need to relieve myself.

All mine were 3.5 hours and I sometimes had two on one day. So a 7 hour day. In rooms with cheap sofas and rugs (I was in isolation). Bad times :sadnod:

Are you not allowed to put your hand up and request to go to the loo during your exams?!

I feel you. My bac consists in over 16 hours of exams in 4 days (4 hours of philosophy in the morning, 4 hours of History-geography in the afternoon, etc ... argh), and I have 3 oral exams before of about an hour each (plus 3 P.E. exams but let's say these don't count).

But as The_Lonely_Goatherd, it gets a ready for uni

I was allowed to go to the loo, but I hate having to interrupt my thought processes, for some reason I always feel a little uneasy about going during an exam, makes me feel that the invigilators think I am cheating (don't know why).
I keep requesting to sit my exams in another room, there are some really cheesy pictures of kids on the front of game boards that are a real put off. Then second most annoying thing would be graffiti from kids who previously used the table for exams, it seems most of them have a fascination for drawing marijuana plants and spliffs. I had a vain attempt at rubbing them out but gave up when I was wasting too much rubber.:unimpressed:

I would assume oxford wouldn't have tables littered with graffiti?

Health problems. Plus the fact that I would have been a huge distraction to everyone else in the exam room, had I taken my exams with everyone else

I had 5 1/2 hours in the exam hall in a day in this block of exams, in which I wrote 36 sides :K. Needless to say I was knackered after.

Im impressed, 36 sides! That's gearing towards the size of a novel.

    What exam were you taking?

Philosophy and ethics in the morning back to back, 3 hours, 24.5 sides and then English in the afternoon 2.5 hours, 11.5 sides. I probably could have done more had I not been rather ill that day...however I was relatively impressed with myself :P.

 I bet you're glad that's over! That's ridiculous - I'm really not looking forward forward to uni exams if they're like that. xD

Haha, yes, and I had two exams the day before that. From pretty much all the undergrads I've spoken to, Oxbridge or otherwise, it seems perhaps first year of university is little more relaxed though.

5.5 hours? I wrote 31 pages in two hours in a high school English exam! Admittedly, my writing is huge :P

Edit: When you say sides, you mean like one side of a page right?

Btw, can those people who currently live in Oxford give me an estimate as to how much living costs are per year? I've checked the Oxford Website but the numbers seem a bit low. The 2011 living costs page comes to around 7300 pounds while the calculator estimates around 9500 pounds (I'm an international but I'm not including air fares here). Combined with the hefty international fees, that's already like 27000 - 30000 pounds per year, which means I will probably have to work full time from December when high school ends til July or so, as my parents can't really afford it. If its even more, we might have to remortgage the house to afford the whole three years
