Should self-harm scars be covered up?

    i always hid mine, they were done for personal reasons and i dont particularly want to show them to the world ... plus its generally speaking rather disconcerting for people to see ... girl at college has them up and down both arms as if she had an unfortunate encounter with one Mr Kruger ... its very un-nerving to have them stuck under your nose.

    This thread has now been closed. Thank you to all of the people who have taken to time to share theor experiences. On TSR we have to keep quite a close eye on threads relating to issues like self harm as they can attract hurtful posts which are not helpful to anyone. There have been a few of these posts today and so it was felt that now was an appropriate time to close the thread as the question posted in the original post has been answered.

    Self harm can be a very difficult issue to deal with if you are going though it. So if you have been affected by anything that you have read in this thread and think that you would liked to talk to someone about it please consider either speaking with your GP, another option would be the samaritans, their contact details can be found here.
