Smart clothes, always smart clothes. You only get one first impression, and that first impression needs to show that you are well dressed and presentable.

Suit if you have one or Shirt and trouser.

I've had several interviews at retail places and have always been noted on having good presentation. Employers like that, someone that puts on some effort.

Some places you may be able to get away with smart-casual but if you are unsure you always wear a suit.
