Hi guys!
I've got an offer to study economics in Bath.
I know Bath is very famous for it's sport clubs but may I also know how are it's other societies?
Thanks! -
Re: Societies in University of BathI was at the open day on the 29th Feb and the guy who was showing me around said he's not really into sports, but he's still found loads to do.(Original post by Irenicis)
thanks, but i was wondering if Bath focuses alot on sports and largely neglect their other societies like music, dance and so on...
I'm not majorly sporty, but I'll probably try a bit harder at uni as I do enjoy playing a casual game of football, and I'd like to try some other sports. Plus the sports facilities do look nice.
Nice to know the first society I'll be joining is called BUMS, though
-
Re: Societies in University of Bath
At the open day they mentioned loads of societies - and if you can't find one for you and you want to create one then if you can find a certain number of people (i think it was 13) who would join you then you can create your own society
But there are loads of sports soc's as you'd probably guess.
we meet again. I'm firming Bath too so i may see you there, i like a game of footie too!(Original post by Contrad!ction.)

i don't know why but i really want to try lacrosse....
(p.s. on a side note, how did your physics rise&fall go? got a D in the end. retake here i come! :')) -
Re: Societies in University of BathOh hey again. I've firmed them now(Original post by rachmcg666)

Any idea what halls you'll be going for?
I wouldn't mind it, I've read a few girly school stories and they all seem to mention it - so I might as well give it a go.
Got 86/90, somehow. Special consideration because of the fire alarm probably bumped it up, I didn't think I did that well
If you want, I can try to help you with some of the stuff
Started any A2 coursework yet?
-
Re: Societies in University of BathHmm, well i when i visited these two awesome guys showed us round the cheapest accommodation (i think it was called Eastwood?) and it was like prison cells so i'm not applying there for sure! probably middle of the range, i want to apply for one where you share with a fair few people, i think it's easier to socialise that way(Original post by Contrad!ction.)

& wowww, well done!
haha, fair enough - i think i went a bit brain dead in the exam. my AS was an A (after a retake
) and now i've gone down to a D somehow. ahh well - retakes ahoy! & yes, we've done the research investigation & i got 9/10 and we're half way through the practical investigation!
{i have 3 other bits of coursework to do as well so it's all a bit hectic at the moment :')}
-
Re: Societies in University of BathI didn't get to see what the accommodation looked like on the inside. Still debating between en-suite and non-suite. Definitely want mixed accommodation though.(Original post by rachmcg666)

What were your titles? My practical (which I did in July last year) was on the charge to mass ratio of an electron, and my research was on the neutrino FTL anomaly. Hasn't been marked yet and I'm fairly sure I'll be making some amendments to them. -
Re: Societies in University of BathMost of the accommodation is really nice! I just wouldn't advise the cheapest one, it's horrible. But i guess you get more money to spend on other stuff / have less loan to pay back - don't really know how it works. Just officially firmed bath so i'm all really excited about it now :')(Original post by Contrad!ction.)

& oooh, that sounds impressive
my practical is how temperature affects the behaviour of elastic bands (i'm still a little child at heart) and my research was Quantum Computing. Computing is my forte so i decided to sneak it in there
hohoho!

Re: Societies in University of BathAre you going with en-suite or no en-suite? I'm not entirely sure. You'll use some of the money from your loan/grant to pay for it. Woo(Original post by rachmcg666)

Ooh, so spin, parallel universes and qubits? That stuff's pretty interesting, I actually mentioned a tiny bit about that in my PS (related to cryptography). -
Re: Societies in University of Bathprobably non-en-suite to save a bit of monies, and so i have an excuse to leave my room or i'll probably end up hiding in there alot.(Original post by Contrad!ction.)

Re: Societies in University of BathSame here!! I love things like quantum physics and universes(blackholes n stuff) and TIME TRAVEL ... basically things I dont understand!!!(Original post by Contrad!ction.)
I love all the geeky physicsy stuff, hopefully I'll be able to go to some particle/quantum lectures whilst I'm there.

LOL is it possible for me to join the physics society even if dont hav a clue about physics!!!!

I see your location's Bath - are you at the uni? -
Re: Societies in University of BathWell, my physics A2 courseworks are 'finding the charge to mass ratio of an electron' and 'is it possible for the neutrino to travel faster than the speed of light?' (completed it about 3 days before they found a fault in the optical fibres that they were using(Original post by Nikstar95)

(although I did not understand the 2nd half.... it sounded funny)
