It'll just mean that if you get an offer that it'll be conditional on you achieving a 2.1 or higher.
This isn't what the poster was asking.

hopefulmedic - unless someone who knows about Southampton specifically replies, if you can't find the info on the website the best bet would be to email them. I'm sure you don't want to apply and then find out it was a wasted space on your application if they don't accept applications from people who haven't finished their degree!

[A]nyone know whether applying with a prediction is ok for the majority of graduate courses?
My thinking is that if medical schools allow for predicted high school grades to be considered then why not allow for predicted university grades to be considered also? But if HM is in doubt then sure he should be contacting the relevant medical schools.

The poster appeared to know that some grad entry courses only consider applicants who have already graduated, and was asking whether Soton was one of these.

Hello, I would like some advice from anyone, please. I would like to apply for graduate entry medicine, I have a degree and an MSc in Psychology and currently work as an Assistant Psychologist (part-time) and a Health Care Worker (part-time). I have 3 - 4 years as a health care worker as it is something I have always done on the side.

I am 28 and I would like to apply to graduate entry medicine- I only have 1 crappy Alevel from 10 years ago. I would like to apply to do the GAMSAT and I would probably start revision in August - does it sound like it would be too much work for me or that I am out of my league?? Any advice would be great thanks.

    Hi,

I would say you have a lot of background in health care, which will help when writing your personal statement, as you can draw from your experiences and how they will help you within medical school and beyond that.

Age doesn't matter, there is someone on the course I'm about to start who's 35 and will be finishing at 41. Graduate entry medicine is very competitive, as you expect. Have you thought about 5 year entry as well or even 6 year? You would have to research all courses through before making a decision.

About the GAMSAT, only you know if you can cope, have you thought about UKCAT as well? Don't worry about A-Levels, as there are Universities that will look beyond A-Levels, as long as you have experience and as you have a degree and Masters this helps. Like I said research is the key when applying. Good luck with whatever you choose

I would not mind applying to the 5 year program but as I already have a degree. I am sure I readtthat I would have to fund my degree of 9grand per year which is money I don't have. Is that correct? I would love to study at Manchester where I live but there entry requirements are high and I don't meet then. Any advice on the financial side as to how it works at graduate entry and undergraduate level.

Yes for 5 years you would have to pay for the first 4 years, and then you can get an NHS bursary for the final year. Whereas, the 4 year graduate programme you pay for the 1st year, and then receive an NHS bursary for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. Hope that helps.

I can only afford to do the graduate entry scheme. I'll give it a try. Any advice on where I can get cheap revision stuff for the GASMAT I don't have a lot of spare money at the minute. Thanks for your help.

You pay for part of the 1st year. You are eligible to apply to student finance england and they will provide you with £5,535 to cover your tuition fees but you have to self-fund the remaining £3,465. You can also get a maintenance loan.

At least two of the programmes that I'm applying to will be 6 year programmes, I'm also considering GEP's (Warwick, KCL) but I'm keen to stay in Scotland where funding isn't going to be such an issue. If only Scotland had a GEP!!

The NHS only pays a portion of the 2nd 3rd and 4th years of GEP (around £3500). You have to either self-fund or get a student loan to cover the rest. Also these arrangements are only confirmed for 2012/13 entrants. Future arrangements have not been confirmed as far as I know.

Not sure why I quoted you, lol Thanks , I was considering Birmingham, even booked the open day then cancelled it after exams because I thought I had flopped:rolleyes:. I think I'm most likely going to apply to the 4 London GEPs but it depends on my UKCAT and future finance announcements (which will probably be after the application deadline )

I would like some more advice. I last did science 12 years ago. What books would you recommend, anything that is valuable but on the cheap side. I have also seen a website that GradsMed School can train you to do the course. Any thoughts on this Grads Med School??

    GAMSAT.

Sometimes, I think I am asking too much of myself. the intensive course is £1,150 for 3 weeks. I have heard that a lot of people fail the GAMSAT. I really do not want to fail it. Any advice?
