Re: Bod Mod SocietyI know there's a definite difference between creams and injections. So maybe one type of cream and another. Unfortunately I'm no dermatologist(Original post by Kate.)
Maybe it was just a particular type of numbing agent that I read about. I wish I could find the post with tattoo artists talking about why they prefer not to use it, haha.

Re: Bod Mod Society
When my ear cartilage piercing got all messed up and my ear started swallowing the earring, I went to the hospital to get them to take it out and to try to dull the pain before she started yanking with the pliers (it was really wedged in there) she put some freeze spray on it. Which went in my ear. That was horrible, it went into my ear and was cooling the inside of my ear, I almost fainted. In the end she just gave me gas and air, and having that earring out was the most painful experience of my life (and the week in hospital afterwards with intravenous antibiotics to clear up the infection was pretty damn rough too). Which is why I'm wary of cartilage piercings.

Re: Bod Mod SocietyHey, incase you're still wondering(Original post by Watch Out For Sharks)
Oh ok. Thanks alot =]
I've got a diver on my chest, got it ummm may maybe last year, can't remember. Settled really easily, apparently lower rejection rate because as the diver isn't anchored as such if you bash it it can spin in the hole (did that make sense?)
I figured I would start with a diver and see how it went, and if it came out I'd get a microdermal, but its doing okay so far. Also it was about half as much and the insertion was really easy, just a dermal punch and manoeuvred in.
Let me know if you have any other questions

How long did it roughly take to heal?
Yeah i was thinking a diver instead of a microdermal mainly because of the cost. -
Re: Bod Mod SocietyUmm hard to say really, you don't really notice it not being healed in the same way as a piercing cause you can't see the hole as such, and I healed super quick because the placement didn't get a whole lot of bashing around, might be longer for hip (?) ones. They say up to 6 weeks but I was good in about 2.(Original post by Watch Out For Sharks)

Re: Bod Mod Society
Hey, potentially ignorant question coming up:
I got a microdermal put in my nape about 2 1/2 weeks ago at a reputable place in Selfridges, London. They had to do it slightly lower down than my friends as apparently my neck folds in a weird place. Anyway I've not had any problems with it - been cleaning it twice daily with a saline solution and using medical tape on it for the recommended 3 weeks. I've just had a rough weekend suffering from some kind of flu, woke up this morning and part of my back has a burning sensation from time to time. Just googled it and apparently that can be down to nerve damage. I'm freaking out now - is it possible that a nape implant can damage your spine/nervous system in some way? Or even cause paralysis? -
Re: Bod Mod SocietyI very much doubt it. It's probably just something else to do with the flu tbh. Give it a few weeks and maybe go to the doctors if you still have those symptoms, but I wouldn't think it's anything to do with the microdermal. They really don't go very deep. However, obviously I'm no medical professional and have no definite answers/proof for you!(Original post by MediterraneanX)

Re: Bod Mod SocietyCartilage piercings here are £20 generally, though could easily be a little more or less I suppose.(Original post by FoxboroHotTubs:))
Hey guys, probably getting my ear cartlidge pierced next week (not really high up - almost just where the cartlidge starts at lobe) and was wondering how much it would cost on average? Just one side? Thanks

Cartilage piercings here are £20 generally, though could easily be a little more or less I suppose.
Also, just wondering if anyone can help me out with another querie. It's a bit ewww but, I've had my lobes pierced for years now and have had no problems. Just recently I wore some fashion earrings (the santa dangly ones, haha) and have now got a little lump in my lobe. I think it's a cyst because if I squeeze it in the day it sort of flattens but then comes back again after a few hours. It's quite sore and stings a bit when I first apply pressure. I know I shouldn't be messing really, but hey, temptations!! I've done a couple of SSS but I don't know if it's helping really with the problem being in my actual lobe. Has anyone else experienced this? -

My piercings alllways play up when I'm ill.
If my navel piercings start to get pissy, a few days later I have a cold.
Clean it well, and let it settle down, shoudl be fine when you recover. -
Re: Bod Mod SocietyPersonally I find all cartilage piercings hurt around the same when you're getting them done (I've had tragus, rook, helix (x3), snug). However, snugs are notorious for being very hard to heal (combination of being quite thick, rigid cartilage for most people, and being right on the outside of your ear means it gets knocked around very easily) and most people find it takes a long time to heal, and they're very easily irritated. Mine was horrible, I retired it after 6 months. Some people aren't suited to them either - if their cartilage isn't defined enough. I'd start with the tragus, they're more 'protected' than a snug and most people are pretty well-suited to them.(Original post by b1505)
Hiya, I'm wanting a new ear piercing...i like the look of snug, tragus and antitragus.
I have my helix pierced already, do any of these hurt less than helix? which would people recommend?
Also is it possible to get the fleshy bit at the side of the snug pierced?
Thanks
Not sure what you mean by the fleshy bit - just a really high lobe piercing, like if I got another one above my highest? Sure, as long as there's enough room for it to be pierced. Some people call it an auricle piercing in that placement. -
Re: Bod Mod SocietyNape piercings are a complete pain in the arse, imo. I had mine for about 4 months, and then just couldn't stand it any more. It would get caught brushing/washing my hair, on scarves and necklaces, when I tipped my head back... And I found that when it was REALLY cold, it would really make my neck hurt for some odd reason.(Original post by Nynyflower)
I had my conch numbed, I didn't even realise the piercer was going to until he squirted alll this cold stuff at my ear. I'm sure it hurt more than the piercing itself!
I am once again trying to decide between a second nose ring, a nape or a rook piercing, although given that I've taken to wearing over ear headphones the rook would really hurt with those. Kind of bored of ear piercings, although the cheaper option would be to take my ear up to 6mm...
The rook isn't too bad, but you'd need to wear normal earphones for a few months just so it can heal. I worked in a call centre a few months after I got it healed up, and it would hurt occasionally, but then I was often wearing a headset for about 10 hours a day. Unless you're wearing earphones for that long at a time, I think you'd be ok with it. It was my easiest to heal, too.
Considering getting another tattoo, but can't work out where to place it. I think it'll probably end up on my hip, but I can't get away from that thought of 'hip tattoos on fat chicks don't look good'

Re: Bod Mod SocietyI think it was probably badly placed for a start, and I should've learnt to sleep in a different position than on my boyfriend's arm, thus stopping it healing as well.(Original post by Trigger)

I loved the look, but it was my mini-rebellion, as my mother would've loathed it had she ever seen it.
