Yep! The student tour guide that was there during the open day specifically said to me that it's not a good idea to chose Birks if you are a Business or law student because their buildings are on the other end of campus, try running up that hill if you're late for class xD

Anyway I'm guessing you put Lafrowda as one of your choices then?
Yep, certainly into Lafrowda now . I've only just firmed, guess I have to wait for a few days before I can apply ! Not sure to get an en-suite or studio though. Studio is quite isolating isn't it? What type of room did you apply for?

Hi svhtg - exciting that you live in France but what made you want to come to an english uni? And no my offer's only conditional too so my main stress currently is getting those As (I say looking at my lacking history notes...)

Well I'm in a French traditional high school, but in an international section (OIB), meaning that I also study english literature and British history, and these classes are taught in english, which allowed me to have a level a bit higher than other students (anyway French people have never really been reputed for their ability for languages ahaha). I really wanted to keep this level, and I don't want to be stuck in France for the rest of my life... so I think England was the right choice!!
But about your conditional offer you're not the only one worried about it, I just can't imagine not being in exeter next year...

haha no worries and yeah history, french and geography what exam boards are your history & french? i'm doing WJEC..
Oh cool - so you're welsh? I'm Edexcel for Maths and History and AQA for French. Although it's so annoying because my school's only just changed for our year to AQA French (from Edexcel) so has little knowledge of what is actually required...

Hey, I put Hope Hall first, Holland second aswell and Lafrowda third! Cannot wait to hear back from them and see where I'm going! Sucks that we need to wait until the end of August..
Oh exciting! So don't you really mind if you're catered or not? And I know - think they actually said we'd hear in September - so even later!!

Oh I didn't know Lafrowda studio existed! I chose single ensuite for all three choices, including Lafrowda. Well I don't think studio has to necessarily be isolating as you'd probably be out and about most of the time anyway but I personally think that cooking with flatmates could be actually pretty fun! (Studio has got a private kitchen right?)
I chose two catered rooms as my first and second choice because my culinary skills are to be honest pretty pitiful hehe and then Lafrowda as my third choice.

Well it's been two months now that I've been constantly worrying about which accomodation to choose that I've arrived at a point where I really don't mind anymore, as long as I'm on the right campus! I would prefer catered because I have to admit that I can't cook but self catered isn't too bad because cooking with flatmates could actually be pretty nice

Yes. I completely agree that now I've given up with where I live. As long as it's closeish to lectures and isn't falling to pieces I'm happy. My only worry is that I'll get a twin - WHICH I DO NOT WANT. Sorry, I like to be social just also like my own space sometimes so fingers crossed....

by the way, and this concerns everyone in this thread i guess, what would you think if we create a facebook group for the LLB maitrise applicants 2012? Wouldn't it be easier to learn to know each other, etc? just an idea.

There actually is a group already, it has two members though :/ (one of them is at University of Rennes I now, and I have 3 mutual friends with her.... small world.)

    http://www.facebook.com/groups/10034308218/members/

But I think a new one might work. Might be useful next year too, for essay help/chat etc.

    After you.

Copied from Exeter 2012 Applicant's Thread:
    (Original post by mathsmusicfrench)
    Hey boys and girls.

Just wanted to share some information with you. I've just applied for accommodation and a message popped up afterwards:

APPLICATIONS FOR 2012/13 will be processed as follows:

NEW UNDERGRADUATE - If your offer status is Unconditional Firm (UF) prior to August your application will be processed from May onwards and an accommodation offer and contract will be sent to you between July and September. If your offer status becomes UF in August we will send you an accommodation offer and contract by early September.

ALL OTHER FULL YEAR STUDENTS: etc
SHORT TERM STUDY ABROARD and ERASMUS STUDENTS: etc
RETURNING STUDENTS APPLYING FOR 2012/13: etc.
Basically, this means, if you have an Unconditional offer, you will be sorted out with accommodation from May onwards and you'll get an accommodation offer from July onwards not, as previously mentioned in various places on TSR, "at the same time as people with Conditional offers" which is what I was led to beieve before I applied.

So the good news, the moral of the story if you will, is: If you have an Unconditional offer, you get a first-came-first-served choice of the accommodation, so all things being well you stand a good chance of getting your first preference.

That was news to me, if you already knew that, then well done; if you don't like it because its unfair then sue me. My postal address is: Independent Print Limited, 2 Derry Street, London, W8 5HF.

    Thanks for listening.

Haha I agree, twin would be the worst:/ i like being social too but there are just too many possibilities that something could go terribly wrong: different schedules so waking eachother up in the morning, managing visitors, loud music .. O.O I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that I will be in a single room! Good luck, I hope you get the accomodation that you want!

noticed that this had gone a bit dead.. how is everyone getting on with their revision/exams? and have you all chosen your accommodation yet? had my A2 french oral the other day and got a few AS re-sits coming up in the next few weeks.. and I've chosen lafrowda, st germans and rowe house self -catered en-suite for accommodation kinda feel like a sitting duck now thought, all i can do is carry on revising now i guess there is no more to do on the admin side of things

Should I point out that I don't have any exams, been there done that, or did I already mention that? =D

I picked Lafrowda, James Owen (?) and Lafrowda.

Revise lots, and then revise soem more. You can't do enough. Start now and don't stop. Honestly, however much you do, after exams you will think "I should have done more" You shouldn't even be reading this, you should be revising now. Go away. Revise!
