Re: 2013 Medicine Re-Applicants642.5(Original post by savage903)
What UKCAT score did you get last year? Im thinking of applying to Sheffield as im from there and can apply to an outreach scheme thing. I'm also thinking of Hull-York and Manchester, 4th option depends on my UKCAT score. Did you do much UCKAT prep last year?
I may have a look at Sheffield now I have a better UKCAT than expected.
A bit less and I only used the 600Q book. I did badly in VR last year so I worked a lot harder at that which made my average go up

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-ApplicantsYou should go for sheffield! What uni's did you apply to last year? VR was my worst section too, dont think my reading speed helped. Any specific way you trained to improve that?(Original post by Minerva McGonagall)

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-Applicantsuse the person specification to see which ones they ask for them if you have space left over put in your most relevant/ impressive until you run out of space, thats what i did(Original post by manu01)
hi, what did you put in your qualification section because there isnt enough space for AS and GCSE grades or are you meant to put only one ?

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-Applicants
Dear All
I am a member of the Admissions team at Sheffield.
We have had lots of calls about our UKCAT score for 2013 entry. People are saying that on the student room they are being told they need a very high score for Sheffield. In the past this was true but we have now decided that we were using UKCAT in the wrong way. We have therefore decided that for 2013 entry we will be asking for a score of 2400 or above (the national average) to meet our requirement.
Please also be aware that our new admissions policy for 2013 is on our website.
I hope this clears things up.

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-ApplicantsIf your 5th choice was AAA or above and you firmed it, you could use track to find out if you got the grades, but otherwise there's probably no point.(Original post by This Honest)
Hey guys since we don't have offers
is there no point in checking track on results day?
I'm aware that UCAS will send us an email but that doesn't help much for us gappers since we don't have offers.....yet

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-ApplicantsTell me about it - I couldn't apply to Manchester or Newcastle last year as I only got 627.5 average(Original post by savage903)
Thanks for the useful info. My test is booked for 5th September. I'm going on a Kaplan course this year as i didnt do great last year, got 617.5. Hoping to get a high 600 or 700 score this year. Having a high UKCAT opens so many doors. What score have you got this year? Where might you apply?
I'm aiming (realistically) to get high 600s, so 680+
- getting 725+ would be a cherry on the top!

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-ApplicantsWow this is great to know! Thanks for the information. Sheffield is a definate for me! Do Sheffield take into account A*'s at Alevel?(Original post by SheffMedAdmissions)

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-Applicants
This has probably been asked before but....
Looking back on last year, if you think one part of your application let you down, which part was it?
If you could improve one part of your application, which part would it be?
What advice would you give someone applying for the first time this year?
Hopefully I'll get a few responses for this; thanks

UKCAT
Practise well for the UKCAT, as it will open your options up a lot - a bad UKCAT means that you'll either have to apply to non-UKCAT universities or BMAT universities, and will have to have amazing grades and an excellent personal statement! -

What did you get?
Aiming for 680+ this year

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-Applicants
is anyone know how unis tend to look at module grades when you have your whole a levels? I think i can get the required AAA overall (touch wood) but have a couple of Bs in my modules already and know ive not got an A in c4 at least becuase that exam was disatrous for me. my head of 6th form thinks thats what let me down this year because i applied to very academic places but do you think they would just have that much influence because they were the only solid grades unis had to go on at the time? i know this sounds stupid and petty but its consuming me now hahaha its the one thing i can do nothing to improve on this year!

Re: 2013 Medicine Re-ApplicantsUniversities can't see module results only the final whole grade for A levels unless they've changed the system? Only Cambridge ask for individual module marks. Even if other universities could see them they should not look too much into the breakdown of modules, only final grade.(Original post by i_hate_ucas)
