Why is leeds nightlife so good?

I've heard countless claims of Leeds uni nightlife to be amazing, but i don't exactly know what this means. Coming from London, a good night out for me would be cheap, full of fun chatty people and the general potential of fun times  so i'm hoping these claims aren't just from previously countryside bound people who are having their first clubbing experience....

So...what makes Leeds uni nightlife so good?

- the people, the booze, the venues, the vibe?

Englighten me! Any stories of memorable nights out would be interesting

I'm from London too and I can definitely tell you that Leeds uni nightlife is amazing! SO much cheaper than london (I'm not kidding, it's ridiculous - plus take aways on the way back are a lot cheaper too). Leeds is literally full of students so all the clubs are full of people around the same age all looking to have a good night out. I've yet to find any club I actively dislike and to be honest it's the people you're with that make the nights out good .

Hey,

Yeah the stories you have heard are all true!

There is at least one great student form mon-sat and more than not there are multiple to chose from with different genres of music.

Everything is very cheap especially if your comparing it to London!

With the uni, met, trinity college, music college and the college of art there is such an awesome mix of people as well!

And of course post night out there are some great places. If not Maccy D's or Subway there is a place called Simpsons pizza next to the university that does £3 11-inch pizzas in 36 varieties!

Hope this helps!

Cheap drinks! Yay!
I've heard some scare stories about seedy locals in clubs and stuff hoping to '**** a fresher' and stuff and people getting second thoughts about Leeds when having their first night out (perhaps because of these sort of antics)... but I'm hoping that coming from London I'm sort of used to this stuff (creeps) already, but I'm hoping that this sort of thing isn't the common thing!

Do you socialise with the other unis a lot then? When I went I was kind of overwhelmed at the amount of students, they pretty much rule the city!

Post-night out food is always a neccessity! Cheap grub! Yay! aha

 Yay, this is good to know! The problem with London nightlife I find, is the limited amount of student nights and the lack of students because London is so spread out and diverse - on a Saturday night you'll find a lot of old rich men instead of young'uns in clubs..
I've heard a bit about the creepy men in clubs etc, but didn't know whether the people that thought this were generally not used to clubbing or if Leeds was especially worse for it! And there's the 'Chino ****er' label that my friend that lives up there has told me about aha! Ever had any problem with them? xD

Leeds is a great place to go out in; within a few weeks of being a fresher you'll know where it is that you like to go on certain days. There certainly isn't a lack of places to go, there's a club/scene/night for everybody; regardless of what night you're out. Apart from the odd club on a weekend; every place i go is rammed full of students; infact in various places you need to show your student ID to get in.

In terms of trouble; i've never personally had anything happen against me, and whenever i do see trouble bouncers seem to deal with it within seconds.

Leeds really is a good place to go out and this isn't coming from some kid who has no experience in the clubbing scene.
Leeds is a large city with stuff to suit everybody.
