Re: 2012 Physics Challenge March 9th
Looking at one of these papers makes one wonder how it is that people manage to get poor marks on far easier ones (I'm talking about those who get low grades at GCSE).
I didn't take the test myself (I took the British Physics Olympiad earlier this year), but I was there when my class went through the paper for this test (they took it on Monday). The highest mark was apparently 47 and the lowest 23 (out of 50) in my class.
The paper seemed pretty easy to me (it required no knowledge whatsoever outside the IGCSE syllabus and, although the manipulations required were slightly interesting, they weren't exactly difficult), and I think it can now be discussed freely. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. -
Re: 2012 Physics Challenge March 9thWell, Question 15 was 3 pages long, so you'll need to specify a little.(Original post by dzhang1234)
hard, so so so hard! Wondering what anyone got on the question 15? Completely stumped me!
If you mean the very last side, I believe the answer was 66.7Ω - the method seemed relatively simple, though maybe it was marginally trickier to gain the "insight" required than with the other problems. For instance, the ones on astronomy were, for the most part, very basic manipulations. -
Re: 2012 Physics Challenge March 9thThe question asking for the resistance of the second resistor was the final question, to which the answer was 66.7Ω.(Original post by dzhang1234)
Oh, well I got that wrong then! How about the question involving the resistance of the second resistor?
