Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?you find 100% bad brah......your MOIST(Original post by Extricated)
Everyone has their own perspective on what's bad. People aiming for a CCC uni will see Ds as bad...whereas if you're aiming for the likes of oxbridge, imperial, LSE etc then you might even see 90% as bad...

Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?
Generally I would see only U as bad, thats only seen as fail, D, C, E's are initally passes at A levels so for other people these are good grades. Personally I'll have my own targets obviously, but if I did end up getting a C or D, as long as I know I worked hard I find it reasonably okay

Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?
I think this question is highly subjective, as everyone has different targets dependent on their educational background and/or aspirations.
My personal goals for the January exams were 95% or more in Maths and Further Maths and >80% on the Physics, and would have counted anything <90% on the Maths and 80% on the Physics as a bad result. However, my ultimate goal is Maths at Cambridge so I cannot afford to be pleased with anything less. Those are my expectations for myself though; just because I want higher than 90% in Maths does not mean it is a bad result by any stretch of the phrase.
@amoo94: Your highest grade achieved is what carries through. That's why resits are so popular; if there was the chance of dropping grades due to resits they would occur a lot less frequently.Last edited by DJMayes; 11-03-2012 at 15:53. -
Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?indeed i got CDD in my first taste of AS exams, retaking the D's to try and get them up to B's(Original post by IamSoapable)
I think the first time you do AS Ds are acceptable as it's completely different from GCSEs and you can get a second chance in June. If you are retaking, anything under a C is bad :/

Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?
I would say it was dependent on your circumstances and the amount of work you put in, in order to achieve those grades.
Personally, it upsets to get anything lower than an A because I know i'm capable of achieving higher. However, for the January exams I sat, I am relatively happy with the results, because, this time last year I was in a psychiatric hospital with no ambition in life, but to kill myself. It's a leap in itself that I can acknowledge that i've come a long way as I was in denial with my illness for a long time. I only resent my Economics and Business grade as I managed to get a C, when i'd been achieving A/B's during weekly mocks. Having said that, I was in A&E the night prior to the exam due to fears of the onset of a relapse. -
Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?
I have a university offer to meet, bad results would be those that do not allow me to meet it. Fortunately I'm on track to get the final results I need, so I'm pretty happy. It's not about how you do compared to everyone else, it's about achieving your personal goals.

Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?Get cracking then(Original post by HotfireLegend)
Same, but I got ABC. Need A*AA, and if I want to go to Durham, I'll have 6 exams in summer.
I've got 6 exams too, need AAB for Durham.

Re: What do YOU think bad results are for the January exams?
imo i think anything worse than BBC and you should retake though thats just me and my reasoning for this is that with a good attitude and lots of effort you could get A's and B's in the summer exams to bump up the overall grades. Lots of people on TSR will want AAA and will say anything worse than a A is terrible so ye ultimately it depends on the person and their university choice/ or w/e. i got CDD in the jan exams because i was going through a hard time in my life and didnt revise enough:/ retaking the D's to hopefully get them up to B's. I'm aiming for an overall A level grade of ABB

Anything less than 100% is bad TBH. Luckily I managed to get 100% in all my exams so I didn't achieve bad results. I expected to get 100% though so that's not that impressive TBH.
Oh you..(Original post by Zhy)
To be fair, anything less than 100% isn't anything to be proud of. It just proves that you don't know the content.
