Oh well! LOL At the moment I'm in the process of getting all the documents I need and gonna photocopy them so that I can send them off to the uni that I want to transfer to needs plus I need to get a letter from my current uni as well. I'm transferring from Roehampton to Kingston uni

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?Also a 1st year student transferring next year from Sociology at The University of Kent to the same degree at The University of Bath - got a conditional of a minimum of 2.1. Not to be cocky or anything but with 6 Firsts at the moment from my assessment so far, seems pretty likely that i will be attending Bath. Very nervous but also excited about attending
also Bath is a very good Uni good academic status and reputation.

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?I am a bit intrigued as to why you want to transfer to Oxford Brookes from University of Birmingham. I have nothing against it at all, in fact Oxford Brookes was one of my choices, still waiting for their decision though. What was it about Oxford Brookes that you really liked? I mean I have visited University of Oxford but not Brookes. If you could shed a light for me on this it might gave me some hope :P(Original post by LeBubbled)
Another first year student transferring to Oxford Brookes from University of Birmingham to carry on my Psychology degree. Got to get a 2:1 average this year but hopefully it'll be ok.

I am currently in my first year and willing to transfer to the second year of a different university. Do we have to contact the University directly or do we have to complete another UCAS application. Sorry I have no idea how to go forward from here and would really appreciate some help

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?Contact the university/universities you want to transfer to (admissions tutor or someone). Just ask if they have any spaces and if they will accept a transfer application into the second year. It might be worth filling out all the preliminary stuff out on the ucas form so it's done, and maybe contact your personal tutor/supervisor at your current uni as he'll probably provide your reference, that way it'll all be ready to go when (if) they reply saying yes.(Original post by MuneebS)

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?I would recommend you do both as you can only put 5 choices down on your UCAS form so it would be a shame to waste a place if there are no spaces on the course/they don't accept transfer students etc.(Original post by MuneebS)

You will eventually have to do another UCAS and put point of entry 2 for your desired course, but some universities prefer you to go through them first. i personally went directly via my course leader, so I had the ucas thing done in a day.
In order for direct help which university are you transferring from/to?
Be aware you'll need a reference and it may have to be from your current university so you may need to tell a lecturer your planning on transferring. -

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?There's quite a lot of personal reasons that have drawn me to Brookes but for academic reasons, its a smaller department. The main things I don't like about Birmingham are to do with the actual place and setting rather than the course itself although the huge size of the department is off putting. Mainly the place is just not a good match for me.(Original post by Jhyzone)

Not to mention your style of writing will now be more academic and mature, as you have had a years worth of university education and when you wrote your PS you were likely half way through a2s.(Original post by hcooper09)

You can always edit your old Personal Statement and just update things. I'm sure you are in the position now when you are able to reflect how useful your A level studies have been. You also need to put some interest for the current course you are currently doing.
Its important that you update it though - sending your old one could look a bit lazy and you're frozen on your 17 years self. You have now matured and I'm sure have developed new interests etc. I can check your PS for you if you'd like.

Re: Second year university transfer students, how is/was it for you?I transfered in my second year and it was a doddle. I got in contact with the head of undergrad studies and he made things very easy. There was a few hiccups getting registered and minor hitches with student finance and so forth but nothing too major.
Don't try and do this entirely through UCAS - contact the departments you want to transfer to directly. I did this and then filled in the minimum amount of detail on the UCAS form as an afterthought to complete the formalities after the transfer had already been agreed. I also talked to people at my first year uni and they were very helpful and provided references and transcripts which helped.
It was a big course that I transferred to so it wasn't like I entered a small group where everyone knew each other well after a year so that side of things was easy too. As the years progressed and classes got smaller - a lot of fellow students didn't know each other that well in the first place so I wasn't so out of place.Last edited by Jake22; 04-05-2012 at 10:18. -
