Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS BiologyI've not done the written paper, but I've been informed that if you know your osmosis well then you'll be fine with it. It might test your knowledge outside of textbook situations, but osmosis is still osmosis at the end of the day.(Original post by mmma)
i have my daffodil stalk isa next week! so nervous! any one know any good revision websites, i always feel the aqa textbook never has enough info for ISAs. I got one mark off an A in unit 1 so I really want to get a solid A in this one! -
Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS Biologyme to, I don't even know how to improve my grade from last year(Original post by Cath-ay)
I'm an A2 student who might be resitting this...
better start rewriting notes and doing past papers!
help!?

Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS BiologyWhat did you get last time? Erm apart from revision notes and past papers, i'd say have Q&A sessions with friends on various biol2 topics, analysis the mark scheme to see where marks are given and read specification/examiner reports. Oh and avoid being ill like I was last time -.- damn lymphocytes and phagocytes of mine were too slow!

Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS BiologyI had the practical this morning. I'm pleased to say I didn't have your moment of panic. We'd actually been given a question for revision to cover Step 1 so it wasn't too much of a surprise.(Original post by Mocking_bird)
Yeah the experiment was straight forward, although I had a bit of a derp/panic moment at the beginning with step 1 (You'll see it tomorrow and laugh at me because I was panicing for no reason as it turns out you get another sheet to help you with it).
Much more enjoyable than the catalase/peroxide one, but maybe thats just because I enjoy using scalpels
.
I know you dont need to be told this Mr. 100 UMS (
) but be really careful when you're doing the heading for your dependent variable, as loads of people messed up on it in my class.
Edit: Oh and I think there will be a large variation because some people will... Hmm how to word this without giving anything away... during the final stage theres something they accidentely do which will mean it will manipulate the shape.
People in my class were struggling doing the bit that required the scalpel, although it may have been due to the fact the technician had put new blades in and they looked unnervingly sharp. My teachers quote, "At least if you cut yourself you won't need a tetanus!".
I took my time with my table and graph, and I'm pretty sure I've covered all the marking points. Although, I did nearly do my graph wrong because I didn't read a certain something in the instructions that went in the table but wasn't required in the graph.
Now it's just the written paper to go. I've got it on Monday.
When have you got the written paper? -

I'm having trouble connecting what the results meant in relation to what we've learnt though, sigh.

Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS BiologyAh, I see.(Original post by Mocking_bird)
My written paper is on Tuesday
I'm having trouble connecting what the results meant in relation to what we've learnt though, sigh.
Math lesson on Friday should be fun as half the class will have done the written paper. And they wonder why my Biology class gets better marks, on average. Haha.
I'll PM you about this now as I might be able to help. -
Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS Biology
Our school has given us substantially less info about this isa than the schools near us have got (daffodil one). could anyone recommend what topics to revise apart from osmosis? I've read through most of osmosis but so far haven't been able to connect it with the results from the experiment, pm me please someone!

Re: AQA BIOL2 ~ 21 May 2012 ~ AS BiologyGood luck at A2 then, there is more..(Original post by When you see it...)
There is so much to learn for this exam.

Might not be doing A2. At least most of it is quite easy (there is just a lot of it). I assume the actual difficulty also changes at A2?
